K&N sucks in the dirt. You gotta put a foam filter before it to truly capture the dirt. On the street their awesome!!

 

Snorkel the best air filter nice clean after a trip to peacock flats. Maybe only thing you might find is a spider

 

I had a aem drop in, pretty much the same since their run by the same people

 

As what I read on the filter thread . Foam filter by whom ?

I've read the K&N oil can foul the MAF sensor too right?

 

Great for street use. Dirt trips switch to stock

 

Never seen it happen yet. But i can see if you drown the filter with oil it will happen among other things.

Yeah that's all I read is k&n can mess da maf sensor not good in dirt who knows what to believe on the internet lol. Might as well stay oem hah.

 

Yes it can if its over oiled... a properly oiled filter will not though..

 

Think is was like $22 for OEM filter from servco. Doesnt break the bank. Just recycle your beer bottles if you need to change em out sooner than expected.

Just got my quote from Sarah from Boss4x4. I'll be placing, confirming, and paying for it next week, so for those who still was planning on ordering, give her a call or PM. might be able to get it on the pallet and save some moolah on the shipping.

 

If you want the best filtration, stick with stock. The minimal performance gains, if any aren't worth it IMO. I ran a Donaldson random media drop in filter for a bit, but sold it when I picked up an AFE intake.
That's the only style filter I would run in the dirt other than paper, but idk if they are available. Amsoil stopped selling them, but I think injen sells a similar product. I don't know if they have a Tacoma application, though.
I even ditched the regular AFE filter for the 7 layer oiled that's meant for the diesels. Seems fine so far, haven't found any filth get past it, and it has long service intervals.
