That looks pretty cool.... question though..

Pic make it look like the rack itself is angled... looks higher in the rear. If that is correct, if you laid down a 14' SUP or piece of wood, is it supported the whole way down? Or missing one of the racks??

Leitnerdesigns.Com A little pricey if you're looking for just a bed rack. I love the system concept and it fit everything I wanted. The back load bar can slide forward/backward too.

The bed rack and Thule racks are angled differently. I'll only use the front Thule rack for a kayak/SUP. Just add some extra padding on the middle bar since there is still a small gap.

I bet one of these master fab guys we have here on TW could fab you a different mounting bracket for that forward crossbar to raise it up level?

finally back from cali. really sucked being in the field for 3 weeks. got a chance to do some work on the truck today. my passenger leaf hanger bent up and inboard just a c-hair from the memorial day trip. i think its from the leaf pack expanding, then binding on the old shackle. grinding the rivets kinda sucked, and so did drilling. sharp drill bits make all the difference. shackle flip is from archive garage. very nice work. pics:

@kumz. That shackle flip kit looks awesome. Besides beefing up the area what are the benefits? I know they are more geared for the offroad guys but I would put that on my xrunner if there was some kind of benefit for my xrunner.

No benefit on an Xrunner. It would raise the rear of your truck and allows for more droop. The stock inverted shackle is geared more toward on road handling.

Yea... someone could probably make a plate to raise the height of the middle rack so it would be useful. If you wanna go DIY, they sell cylinder spacers or you could just stack some bolts or washers.....

Plain and simple explanation. Best reason to leave my stock shackle in place. Many thanks!

:bananadance: I'll never get tired of first-gen mud flaps. I really, really, really, really hate the 2nd gen flaps

also, how much did that flip raise the rear? I'm thinking about doing the same cause it seems like the Dakars I got are getting tired. I don't get the rear lift that everyone else is experiencing, and I'd rather flip da shit then get an AAL.

I'm concerned about your shackle angle, though. Idk if it's the way the pic was taken or what, but they look too close to 90 degrees, should be closer to 45. Your springs don't look like they have a lot of arch. So under compression they wouldn't flatten out very far, but under droop, they would pull inward, and worst case scenario is pull the shackle past 90 toward the front of the truck, and have it stay on that side when it compresses back. Maybe it's just the pic, idk. I would try mount the flip kit farther forward.

I think x-runners already have some sort of shackle mount brace, but defined engineering makes a nice one for stock style inverted schackles.

Well guys I've come with bad news. I was trying to get into a 4door tacoma but my trade in quote was extremely low. Went and got a 2017 ford cuz they pretty much beat toyota trade in by 4k. With that said I've got some extra parts that I'll be selling in the Craigslist thread

It raised the rear a solid inch. I don't really dig it, may try a smaller shackle In the near future.

Yeah, the pic angle is a bit deceiving. It's definitely not an optimal angle, and mounted in the forward most position as well. With weight, she sits around 50 deg, and about 60 unloaded. I've had it at max stuff and max droop already, and it never passes 90. I've seen how shitty inverted shackles are. I really wanna try smaller shackles cause I don't like the lift it gave. Makes it harder to load bikes in the back lol.

May try to remove the overload springs and put the AAL in.

Iirc, that shackle angle situation came up in the Archive thread. Seems like there should be a better adjustment range so you can get a shackle angle like the ATO kit.
