Truck landed in HI and picked up. But I knew it was not going to be a peaceful ending leaving my truck in the hands of others let alone a shipping company. Upon inspection at Matson the truck was filthy dirty, good thing I washed and sealed the truck plenty of times before shipping it. I checked what I could and everything looked fine until I brought it back to my location and gave it a wash. Found the lower corner of driver side tail light was cracked somehow, there are also few scratch/scuff marks on the light lens and on the body panel next to the light showing something impacted the light... I was surprised I did not see the damage during the first inspection. Matson allows up to 3 days after receiving the vehicle to make any damage claim so I have. What a disappointment, mainly because I only cut open the tail light maybe 2 weeks before the shipping to paint the house black now this happen. Guess its better to have the damage on the light rather then a body panel.

As you can see in the first pic the damage is not that noticeable, this was after the wash. Imagine a nice layer of brown and black dust on top.

Question, what is the most important skid plate(s) needed for light off-roading here in Oahu? What is the most common damage that occurs? IFS, Mid, Rear Trans, and/or Gas Tank?

IFS is pretty important and you have to have that one first anyway because the mid and trans bolt up to it.

Not too many rocks here, beside the random rock poking out of the sand when you not paying attention... Mostly dirt trails and ruts. I have gotten away with just pelfreybuilt IFS and mid skids this whole time.

but you guys have the factory gas skid right? i don't think sports come with those, so it's just exposed tank under there. i get worried when i'm hauling ass through the lava fields now, cause i only have an IFS. wanted the mid too, but i think @deeezy beat me to the punch for a used one on here. lol

I don't have one and don't plan on getting a gas tank skid. I don't want to be the first, but I have never heard of any gas tanks ever getting damaged.
