After 12 years, my Weber grill is needing to say goodbye.

In the market for a new Weber, but the green egg is starting to peak my interest...

    Anyone have one?? Love it??

I seen those. Pretty cool. BTW, There are also other companies making ceramic kamado style grills these days.

Air gas had some kamado style grills that looked like BGE but brown.

    Kamado Style Grills

    Home Depot - 0
    Sams - 0
    Costco - 0
    Lowes - ?
Airgas - 0 (and the sales guy I called was worthless... but even if, they don't have any)

Gonna go check out PoP and compare their prices to the other Green Egg distributors... I was looking at a new Weber at $700, so I guess the egg is in that range... and if it can smoke and make pizzas... may be a good buy...

I'm just getting into grilling seriously since I finally have room for a nice one. I'm thinking about an infrared grill.. you guys have any experience with them? Nice 5/6 burner ones at HD are in the $500 range.

Edit: The only real benefit I like about it is how they prevent flare ups. But the more I read any good quality grill should do the same.

Southern turf hawaii is a dealer for the big green egg. When I was looking for one I called them, their prices was similar to POP, maybe even a little cheaper.

What? I was just at air gas on dillingham with @squint0241 and they had a bunch! Check Amazon too.

The nice thing about the BGE is the accessories. POP did have a nice display last time I was there.

Yes I admit I'm biased, but the Webers are awesome grills. The flavorizer bars also help to delefect any grease away from the flames, and hence no flare ups if any.

Supposedly the infared can get up to 700°+. Supposedly the Green Egg can get up there to...

Yea.. called them. They are a bit cheaper than PoP. They offer delivery, like PoP, but no setup charge. For $50 I kinda like not having to setup a 150+lb vase... less risk. Lol
I'll probably get it from southern.

Maybe you saw all the webers, but no kamado style. I thought the guy was just new, so I stopped in a bit ago. They have some weber grills, but no kamados. We are talking about the airgas right next to OCCC right?

Maybe I'm getting sticker shock, but all said and done, I'm looking at like $1,500.

I'll probably wait it out a bit rather than just jumping on the BGE train...

I just bought a brand new discontinued Webber genesis (newer model is genesis II) from the BX on Hickam. $500. Love it. I've always had a smoker as well. I like to keep them separate so I can grill things and smoke something else.

The genesis series webbers have a million awesome reviews between 3rdparty consumer reviews and major customer reviews.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Weber... lasted 11 years and possibly may last me more (with a little work)... but I always wanted a smoker and guess the BGE is a good compromise between 2 separate grills...

    Or

I'll report back in a bit... did a burn off with the BGE with some tri tips. Lots to learn, but I'll report back on findings...

Got a BGE. It's good but gotta check the temperature periodically. May look into a pellet style too. GMG, Traeger or Rec Tec.
