About to pull the trigger on a portable compressor. I know ARB is the best, but have any of you used a ViAir? For the price difference I might give them a try, their portable 400P is only $130 on Amazon, can do up to 35" tires, 150 PSI @ 2.3 CFM

If you're only looking for a temporary portable, I don't see a problem with the Viair. Just double check what the run timeand duty is as to not overheat the compressor.

33% duty, 40 min run time. It'll be used occasionally but not all the time so for the money, why not

I have a Viair running my train horns with a chuck to also inflate tires or what not filling a 2.5 gallon tank. Worked fine to me. I think ARB would be more crucial if you also wanted to run lockers. I'm looking into a Twin for that specific purpose. And being able to fill my 2.5 for train horns on my '16 doesn't hurt lol

Gotcha, yea that's what I've read, seems ARB is the way to go for heavy duty stuff. Right now it's sole purpose will be airing up tires. Air horns may be added once the truck looks the part  but I'll switch to an on-board then.

For that price, don't think you can go wrong; especially if you're only using it to air up tires. But, you might be a little disappointed with the 33% duty cycle.

I have the single heavy duty ARB installed under the hood with the line and quick release to one of the bed cubbies. It's 50% duty and does its job; but kind of wish I went with the twin. LOL!
Mine gets hot after the first two tires going from 20psi back to 38psi for each tire. Had to install a stainless steel braided lead to avoid the air line from melting from the heat off the compressor.

I was tempted to go with the VIAIR, but since I have plans to get a front air locker, I went with ARB.

Yeah, but also crazy :censored: expensive. At the time, I couldn't justify the cost and didn't know if it would be worth it (wife wasn't working when I purchased the air compressor). Plus, I was concerned about the size of the twin fitting under the hood and the additional weight. But, now that she's got a solid career...more truck parts for me!!! :bananadance:

lol. this uncle was looking at um and telling me how "perfs" would be for offroad. I was like, uncle, not going fill up anything bigger than my daughter's bicycle tires. I wanna get it and try it one time... as long as Target takes it back when it fails

You would probably kill the battery just trying to do 1 tire, an still not have it inflated enuff

I got the 88p. For the performance and price of $42 on Amazon, can't go wrong if you're only filling tires. Or buy 2 and fill two tires at the same time, will be faster and still cheaper than a 400
