Dave at Mod Industries did my wheels and tires for my Tacoma and a few other cars. Putting the new weights without cleaning the residue would not work for me too. He does sometimes have his workers do the balancing so I let him know what I want since I do care about function and aesthetics. If he doesn't do it himself he tells them what to do and has checked to make sure it has been done the way I asked them to do it. Suggest letting Dave know and he will take care of it.

His worker did the balancing, but I figure, why bother? That's how he runs his shop and worker. Pay for what you get.

We have to ask somebody to clean off the mounting grease that wasn't on the wheels prior to them touching them? Hmm

    Edit
After a closer inspection you may have been talking about the adhesive backing for the weights.... If that's the case I stand corrected... That's likely on the owner because they won't want liability from using solvents or scratching the wheels

On your first point, I agree.. That is like needing to ask the food prep guy to wash their hands before cooking my food..

On your edit: So, I bring my tires in.. 1. Do I need to take my weights off myself and then clean, then bring in to the shop? or 2. Does the shop take off off the weights, roll them out to me (cause I can't go in the workspace because of liability). Allow me to clean the reside, then apply the weights? Sorry.. Don't agree with the liability thought as Costco and other places clean old residue off. Even many safety check places will wipe the old residue from the old sticker before putting on the new one..

Honestly that is what I did. When I mounted tires I assumed that was the case going in and I had already chipped the weights off and cleaned the adhesive off already. I also had my wheels loose which provides for another convenience point

    However
No place I have ever been even attempt pulling the old decal for safety... It's always been pull the old one, leave the VOID VOID VOID all over the bumper and put the new sticker NEXT to the VOID VOID VOID

Good on you brother. I have honestly never even thought of taking the old weights off before bring tires in to be balanced.

The old Tandalls (in Waipahu), the Shell (in Waipahu), and even the 76 in Pearl City have all cleaned off mine..

Here’s my used maxtrax. The packaging isn’t even damaged...just 3 missing zip ties on the corners. Keep an out out for used ones on Amazon if you’re interested in a pair.

The issue with Maxtrax is Amazon normally doesn’t ship them to Hawaii
