You were in spec with different tires and weren't rubbing, so they likely just stopped because it was all cherry. If you kept the same tire size, it may just be that you're diameter is a hair larger and enough to rub now.

if you changed tire sizes and rim offset, sometimes you have to change your alignment to an "out-of-stock" setting to maintain the stock drive-ability.

Could it be the spacers? The new rims are 17" vs the 16" that was on there previously. Also went up one size tire.

Yea you’re going to need an alignment. You’re in spec for what was on there before. At least that’s what I have been told.

Shit, that sucks. Another $80. Does any place on Oahu do lifetime alignments?

Rim size won't matter as much (unless your rim width and offset drastically changed) if your overall diameter didn't change. You aligned on a different tire size, so your alignment is off enough to rub a little now. I'd suggest getting a lifetime alignment package @ Firestone for stuff like this.

could try and pull your mud flaps or flatten them, it might be enough

I called Firestone in Kailua, and they person I talked to said they dont offer the lifetime alignment option. Hmmm, maybe a different Firestone?

firestone might not wanna honor it if its lifted, or add limitations like they did to mine with a "lifted- cannot adjust camber"

Also FYI .. I post a sortable excel sheet for common 33" tire brands for 16" and 17" wheels in the second post in my build thread. If it helps anyone, cool. Just put what I looked at, so there may be things missing you're interested in.

I'll go against the grain and say it's not your alignment. An alignment only sets everything to the best specs for tire wear in regards to caster, camber and toe for the most part. Changing rim or tire size won't affect any of that cause it's measured off of the rim when they do it and unless you got a warped rim it should run true with the hub. Unless you take apart the suspension or smash a pothole or curb or something the alignment should stay in spec.
Most likely the spacer kicked it out enough to rub. Simple to check, yank the spacer off and run it to see if it rubs still. If not, like they said, no need front mud flap so take it off and heat gun the front plastic just a bit. easy peasy

the alignment deals with some the issue of the compression geometry with larger tires that rub. its not a cure-all for larger sizes, and most that go larger have to chop the cab mount and hammer back the fender. wouldn't be as much of an issue if Toyota designed the fenders more like the 1st gen where the wheel well was more centered on the wheel.

and typing with a broken finger sucks :pccoffee:

I second ditching the spacers. Plus those are technically stock tire sizes on a sport model which dont rub. Only difference is the spacers....
