How do you plan to drive/use your truck? 4x4 or 4x2? The saying goes: buy once, cry once.

Got my truck back. It went in Wednesday and got it back today which is Saturday so 3-4 day turnaround. This was them saying part had to be shipped in. They replaced the fuel pump for me. I have a tune on it and went in and out undetected. Here’s the work done. If you have a problem with your truck with the same symptoms, call the service department when you can. Only problem is that because there isn’t a solution yet, there isn’t a recall part for it. So there’s a chance the pump can fail again and will still have to return it for the proper recall part. When a solution is out, a new part number will be generated for it so recall is squared away. Hope this helps!

    Recon for safety?

Took off my 5% tint on my passenger & driver side yesterday. But they turned me down for my safety today because I had a 3"suspension lift (Icons & Spc uca cheeee) and said I needed to get recon first.

I thought I'd be good as long as I didn't go over 3"? I also just have stock 4 runner tires on my 2012 taco. This is the most stock set up comparing to all the braddaz rocking 6"-8"with spacers (Yesssah would if I could haha).
I'm all sick haha pounding beers already.

Yup. Any suspension modifications and u need a recon. Wheels/tires not so much. All u need is to get a alignment, bring the printout and call for an appt, its not that bad, just a hassle. My last one on the 4rnr was less than 20 minutes.

Since it's on the subject. What exactly do they look at when acquiring recon? I plan to get recon soon o just dont wanna go down there and waste my time not meeting the specs

Alignment sheet within last 30 days is #1. Then they check bumper heights, tire rub and if tires stick out past fender. He uses a stick. Just a qtr inch and fail till u get flares.
Not sure about wheel spacers, i would remove prior if possible.
Quick look under hood for weird mods but intake and exhaust are a non-issue.
Tint needs to be legal too.
Hope that helps, there's a web site u can delete check.

Mud guards must cover half the height of the rear tires, and entire width of the treads. Flares/fenders must cover the entire width of the treads. Wheel alignment must be within factory specs (in the green), and within 30 days of recon appointment.

If possible, I'd say remove wheel spacers so your tires treads are within the fender/flares. Then again, stock rims with spacers MAAAAAYBE are fine, try n posting a pic.

    Howzit Everyone,

Currently, I'm still OCONUS and due to the pandemic I've been stuck here and not sure when I'll return to HI. In any case I wanted to ask about registration renewals since my safety is past due. I know everything has to be current prior to renewal. But I was wondering if any process has changed since COVID?

    When did your safety expire?

    https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/faq/covid-19-safety-check-faqs/

    2. What do I do if my commercial or non-commercial motor vehicle safety inspection certificate/sticker has expired before, during or after the emergency period?
Both commercial and non-commercial motor vehicle safety inspection certificates/stickers that expire in July 2020 or prior, will be valid through September 30, 2020. All safety check certificates/stickers that expire in August 2020 or later in 2020 will be granted a 3-month extension from the expiration month. For example, if your safety check certificate/sticker expires at the end of September 2020, you will have an additional 3-months (or until December 31, 2020) to get a new safety check inspection completed for your vehicle. Your vehicle must still be properly registered with the county DMV to legally operate on public roadways.

    4. How do I renew my motor vehicle registration if my safety inspection certificate/sticker has expired?
You may renew your motor vehicle registration with an expired safety inspection certificate/sticker during this emergency period as long as the granted extended expiration date has not passed. Each county’s DMV offer non-in-person renewals either on-line, mail-in, or kiosk. Please check your county’s DMV website or contact your county’s DMV for the type of service being offered.

Safeway has Kiosh for registration . My niece did hers even though was expired . Her safety was still good though. Think you going to have someone do temp safety check and send in with registration renewal form .
On side note my nephew  been running around with expired safety and reg about a year now and hasnt been stopped yet .

He must get one completely stock vehicle? Attract less attention I’m thinking. Modded vehicles, cops would have all the reason for pull’em over lol

Well I'm also military so I have the exemption form thing so kiosk is a no go as far as I know. But in any case safety expired Dec 2019. I left in May 2019. So it's been quite sometime. I guess worse case just run my truck to get safety check and cross my fingers and not get pulled over. Only good thing is my insurance is current so I'm not intentionally trying to evade any laws.

And it sucks I'm still stuck OCONUS, I miss my truck.

    Thank you for service!

That is shitty to hear. I’m sure you wouldn’t get penalized especially with proof of being overseas then getting stuck there.

I was gone when mine came due as well. Same process. Safety check within 24 hours of going to the dmv, walked in, paid the $24.50 or whatever it is, got my registration and went back to where I got my safety check to get my stickers. (You will still need the non-resident form)

I went in July but expired in May and the DMV backdated it too my expiration of May.

The DMV did say I needed to make an appointment online but when I walked in I had no issues. The website was AlohaQ.org.

Not sure if it has changed since then but, that’s the most recent info I can Give yah.

If it’s just your safety and not the registration then just go get your stickers and then go to the DMV to renew your current registration. It will save you a trip back to the inspection place.

I went to Flagship in Kapolei. Took 5 min, didn’t exit the car, and they did a pretty basic check (blinkers, lights, wipers and that was about it)

Howzit guys, just wanted to share some recent progress pics of the truck. Just put new wheels, tires and a bumper. Have more lift components to install, will get to that soon.

Still not sure how I feel about the bumper. I like it, but don't LOVE it.
