That was Rotha and me. His little girl had her first volley ball game at the gym that day. I wanted to show Rotha the lot there and see if I could find a good deal on something at the lot. You should have stopped and said howdy

I've got a pair of the EU2000i's. Very nice generators. Now I'm looking to get the 230v kit so I can hook them together :D

Yea, I think I'm gonna go with the EU2000 soon.. May never use it much, but better to have it than to not.

I've been eyeballing the EU2000 for a long time but cant get myself to pull the trigger. It would be nice for when we have power outages for sure. IIRC they even make a propane conversion kit for it, so u dont have to worry about the gas going stale.

    Gas generator vs solar generator
gas & oil vs Sun and battery

Solar generator you are going to need sun to charge up the battery and 2-4 years you will need to replace the batteries which will cost you $70- $100 a battery probably this generator has at least 4 batteries. Does it say on full load how long does the generator will run? If you looking at using this solar generator for recreational use and you don't need a lot of power then go for it. But you are looking for a generator to use in an emergency situation example power outage then a gas generator would be your choice. No need to charge the batteries before using as long as you have gas. There is retrofit kits out there to convert them from gasoline to propane in which the generator will run a lot longer and cleaner. I have a Honda EU2000i and it can run a refrigerator, tv and some lights at the same time. The plus on this generator it has an inverter so it has clean sine wave in which it will not screw up your electrical equipment and is constant at 120 volts. A non inverter generator your voltage does not always run at 120 volts so if you have electronic equipment that sensitive to power it might fry your equipment. I would invest in an inverter generator. Good luck.:D

Thanks for the input. I didn't know I had to change batts every 2-4 years. Now I'm reconsidering of buying a EU2000i.

Besides, you could build a decent solar array and get a few marine batteries way cheaper, just wouldn't be as portable. I have some experience soldering cells. I built a few arrays lately. Just built a 75 watt panel for my boss to run his aquaculture garden. And in high school, I was on the solar car team for a few years. I was team captain my senior year :D

I still want to build a solar go-kart for my daughter with a big panel for a roof and aluminum frame :D
At pearl, and probably on Hickam too, there are a few tiny electric pickup trucks with a panel on the roof. Just leave them in the sun to charge up. I want one!
