Well, got an email back from Brian saying that this is how he makes them, but it seems really half assed to me. He plates them first, then welds on the cross piece after, so they cannot be welded all the way around. He claims in his email that they are strong enough this way. Aside from being weaker, they will also fill up with water and it will stay there, quickly rusting them from the inside out.
Would you be happy with this???

I am gonna cut off the plating and take more pics. I cant believe he is trying to back this up. I'm gonna post pics in his vendor review section and see how others feel about this.

IMO plating should be done after welding cross member. Not welding it all the way around creates a weak point, that could break if you take a big hit to the slider... I proly wouldn't be happy with that product. But I'm not an expert by any means

I got the plating off. Was pretty easy since they are thin, super annealed steel.
Even if they are strong enough, how strong will they be after a few years of being filled with dirty, salty water?

From a welders point of view, that's a half made slider. He didn't even knock off the dingleberries (little beads of metal) like iven said that welds structural integrity has been weakened significantly, and will corrode in no time. God forbid any large amount of downward pressure is applied, the welds will crack out

He offered to build me another set, fully welded and pay for shipping. I declined. I don't want anything else from him. Plus I cannot wait another nine months, and I do not want anybody elses order getting pushed back for me because that's what he did to me, so I know how it feels. I will fix these, and they will be made better.

Yeah I hope he gives you a partial refund, like maybe 40% since he only welded around 60% of the cross members?
