I have the neverwet if anybody wants to try it. It works for awhile, but is fragile. Anykind of water pressure will defeat it.

You prob know this already but the dome is an "always hot" circuit with a dimming switched ground. Idk if the dimming ground can handle the draw of the rock lights. You guys are better with this stuff than me so you'll know if it can. If you don't mind, I would like to know how you guys wire the rock lights after you're done.

what do you think, a forward rectified current of 1-amp or 3-amp diode should handle it?

the rock lights wouldn't be powered by the dimmer circuit, just using the trigger signal to activate the relay.

didn't know that the dome is always hot though, that's good to know.

I wire my spring switches to be the same way and use the ground to trigger the activation...like how I did Rick's and my hood lights.

now that i've had my coffee, I can do some better research :)

I have to check out how how you wire something like that after you're done. I have an idea but I need to actually see it.

Wasn't too bad. My truck had just enough droop to use a shorter allen wrench to get the bolt started and then I could finish bolting it in with the long one that they supplied.

    Too long to list :D
I wasn't sure about the Tacoma, but I know most domes are ground switched. That way they only run a positive and ground wire up, and the switch only has to run over a body stud to activate manually.

I cheated and tapped into my rear cargo light since it is a positive switched circuit that is activated with the done light, but also has a factory rocker switch :p

1a should be plenty, but I always got the 3a 50v just to be safe. They pretty cost the same anyway.

Using grounds for the relays makes wiring easier since you don't have to run all those extra +12v leads. But I still run my relays positive switched :)

yup, I was thinking of wiring up a sample today but got lazy

I kinda wish our trucks had a cargo light.

I picked up some 1amp and some 3amp diodes. I might try to intercept the door sensor and use that. I prefer to wire my relays positive too, feels safer that way for switched applications.

now comes the fun part of getting all the wiring to play nice with each other..

You should be able to find the dome light wire in the a pillar. I had to do that on my friends truck so I could use the ground to switch on when the doors open.

I think I found the 2 wires i'll need to tap in the fuse panel to the left where the switches are :headbang:

Mike...Hope you have it all figured out...lol Nate...you're welcome to join the light Mod this coming weekend if you'd like. Looks like it will just be Rock Lights and switches until those brackets come in, and I'm not holding my breath with those for now. The Rock Lights should be an interesting setup for Mod Day:D There's a total of 6 lights...One for each wheel well and 2 centered on each side of the frame.

Maybe if I bring beer:D:D...Iven will let us play at his house... I'll bring some iced cold Hoegaarden Iven...:D

I tapped into the harness in the driver side behind the coin thingy. There's the dome light switched ground right there so no need to go into the pillar if you don't want to.

Just drop done lamp and check what color wire and should be able to find driver side kick panel. I don't recall which wires I hooked up. Sign of young age.
