Two weeks....two weeks...

Oh...So me and my roommate when to K-Point yesterday to show some of our friends the bird sanctuary and the beach line and coves, staying away from the guys who were fishing. Right after getting through the gate some dude in a fairly new white 4Runner blocked us from going any further. He got out of his vehicle and appeared to be taking pics or taking vid and approaches me saying there's no wheeling. I told him we're going to the sanctuary and he tells me about how the area is being preserved. Without having a sticker on his bumper, as required, he wants to see my permit. I showed him while taking a pic of his back area after he walked back to his vehicle. It was weird, irked me a bit.

 

You should've asked who he was that he has the authority to ask for your permit. Did you get pictures on his plates and vehicle? Post it here if you did.

 

I was a little upset, probably an understatement, and I should have asked where his sticker was. But yes...I got a photo of his vehicle and plates while showing it's not an official vehicle of the state.

 

So did he get out of your way? I would have been pissed. Especially since I helped mark the designated roads.

 

Yeah and if he wasn't an official of some sort that had to authority to question me I wouldn't be giving up any information. If it was in some sort of preservation you should've received an email from DLNR since you're registered and get the code by email...? Right? I don't see any antenae either so he couldn't have been a cop or DLNR. Or might have been but should've announced it or shown some sort of credentials.

 

He did get out of my way, I was tempted to show him the series of texts I've gotten on a weekly basis regarding the combo changes. I was pissed, next time I'll know how to handle it better.

I noticed there's no orange sticker on his vehicle.

 

Hence why I took the pic in case I got backlash for some stupid reason.

 

Kaena Point secret service. As long as you follow the marked trails you should be okay. You can even pull off of the marked trail to park and fish.
I wonder what that guy's problem was. Needs to pull that orange marker out of his ass.

 

i'd send that pic to DLNR and report em. maybe they'll flag the 4runner and cancel his pass

I'd have asked for more info about who the he thought he was

 

DLNR has authority to ticket out there. They use official vehicles and there's only 2 of them that patrol from pearl city to kaena point (north side). They all came in the store to buy helmets and i got nosey about who and when in case i decide to climb a hill out there.

 

I was too pissed off while trying to keep myself calm to ask any questions.

Funny thing is that one of the trucks was out there parked at the bird sanctuary exit. He was parked there for awhile though.

That's the first shot of that hill that actually looks like a hill. Camera tricks these days.

 

thats what i was afraid of once the gates went up. People acting like its their own private grounds. But that guy is clearly wrong and not following the rules as it states you need to have your pass displayed on your bumper at all times while in the gated area.

i would actually call DNLR and let them know that you were confronted by this person.
