Maybe you should get the IFS skid plate and get rid of
The Toyota flimsy skid plate, just a thought then all you will need to get is your sliders.:D

Looks like I'm in for a front Aluminum bumper.. Had to tell my wife that will probably be it (for the truck) until I possibly convert to 4x.. Didn't tell her about the fog lights and the light bar I need to get..

Hmm... Looks like Tyler Pelfrey is gonna have an even bigger following in Hawaii :)

And yeah, if you gonna get a bumper, you need to at least get the IFS skid too.

I'm just happy my wife let me get the bumpers. She knows exactly what I'm ordering and said I better not add any more to my order or else. Seems like I'm always missing something for my truck.

Miles...you should add a list of the items up front with the costs, so everyone can get a quick ballpark on pricing. Ala Carte...:D

pound for pound, aluminum is stronger.

the AL bumpers will be 1/4 plating where the steel is 3/16, so the impact strength is comparable, depending on the type of aluminum they use. I'll take a guess they will use 5052-h32(28k psi tensile str), which is plenty strong(6xxx & 7xxx are stronger and $$$) yet affordable, but it will probably dent and bend before steel would.

They main benefit is weight savings.

For impact, AL will do a better job of absorbing the blow and deform where thick steel will not, so if you relate it to hitting another car, the AL bumper might deform, but your frame might not get warped...with steel, your bumper might just get scratched, but the frame might buckle at the pre-designed crash areas to absorb impact.

the recovery points and hi-lift sections will matter more with AL, where proper technique will be needed to prevent damage from not loading the weight correctly. steel will take the abuse and beg for more.

    Well stated...:D

Damn...I keep adding more shit by the hour! All I'm missing is the Mid/Rear skid and sliders...lmao! I'm putting my cards on the table for now with what I got.

Are people getting Powder Coated sent? Wouldn't it be cheaper here? And then if there's a scratch on the PC...meh With all the new bumpers being ordered I wonder if they plan on shipping everything when it's all packaged or piece mail. The guys with the small orders would have to wait until all the bumpers are completed for them to pallet the whole thing:confused:

ughhhh hard decision. I just would hate to get into a fender bender and mess (dent) up an aluminum bumper. I love that weight though.

Sir would you like to add the mid and rear skid plates to your order? If you use your plastic don't you get reward points? That could be points to a trip to Amsterdam.

Everything was going to be ordered bare metal, but if you want it powder coated you can but you take the risk of it getting damaged during shipping. There is one member that will be getting his stuff powder coated.:spy::spy::spy:
