Bruh. I did look at the wack website. Look closely when he "locks" it on the port, he's very cautious not to disrupt the "lock" up or down.

I didnt know I had to slow it down that much, my question was, what features on the physical OBD2 port (indents, recesses, shoulders, shelfs etc) does this lock interface with?

The two nubs on the outside of the connector (i.e. absolutely trivial for anyone to brute-force it open if they already had tools to open your door). The video even says the lock won't work if your OBD2 port is worn

I bought a OBD2 port dust cap P/N 82821-20330 that hooks onto the same nubs...

Already there my friend! I am staring 60 in the face right now. But at this point in my life, I find that I just don't worry about stuff like this anymore. I always say, if someone ever breaks into my house and no one is home, they can steal anything they can cart away as I got good insurance! Now if they break in and I am home, all I will say is someone is probably going to the hospital! :)

Their easiest method is pulling it onto a flatbed in two minutes

My truck is a manual so there’s a small number of people actually capable of driving it

that said, if someone really wants to steal it, have at it. I’ve got insurance. It’s not worth worrying about. If I lived in an area I was paranoid about vehicle theft, I’d move.

Thanks for the link . I ordered it and it arrived. Its installed now. It locks on securely and Its a good purchase. Good little piece of mind that if someone does get in they have to fight for it and probably move on to easier targets so its worth the money.

We have multi Million dollar homes with state of the art security systems having their cars stolen. Its not always about being in an area you "have to worry about". Cars are being stolen right out of gated communities. WE had 2 soldiers vehicles stolen right off a military base.

They just pull them onto flatbeds. If an owner has a lot into mods and a $60k+ truck that insurance may not totally cover, it may be a good idea to get a GPS tracker installed.

For all those that just want bit of protection park in your garage (if possible). Your garage door opener should be connected Aux switch inside your house.
I know insurance will pay for the Truck but not for my Mods any and time :(
I place my fob into pouch called WisdomPro from Amazon 24$ cad. It really works from sending the signal to the Taco!!

What is this thing called a key fob?

I like that my Tacoma has a real key to lock and unlock things on it and to put into the ignition switch to start it. The key I have does have the door lock and unlock feature but if you don't put the physical key into the ignition switch you are not going anywhere. Face it if a thief wants your vehicle bad enough they are going to get it no matter what little gizmos you buy. The OBDII locking covers are a waste of money, they can be easily defeated and you can end up with a broken OBDII connector. Besides what if you have something that requires it to be plugged into the OBDII port, now you locking cover can't be used.

While it is nice not having to get out a key with these push button start vehicles I think the old fashioned key is still better. Even push button start systems have a key that slides into the key fob for when the fob fails so you can still open the door, then all you do is put the dead fob near the push button and the car will start because it is still reading a small chip in the fob just like the tiny chip on a manual key.

One more thing about those little locking OBDII covers is they are used by most people with a tune so when one shows up in the service department and it has a locking cover on the OBDII port you just alerted them to dig a little deeper into the ECM to see if it has been programmed more than the manufactures system say it should have been. Every time you flash a tune into the ECM it is logged so when your ECM shows it has been flashed 6 times and the manufactures shows it should only show 2 flashes that is a red flag that the ECM has been tuned and reason to void your engine and powertrain warranty.
