Every time I get a check engine light and try to use one of those diagnostic readers, it gives me an error. I even took it to a Toyota dealership and they had a heck of a time trying to get the machine to give them the code. The machine kept giving an error message. It look the mechanic 20 minutes to finally get a reading.

I'm thinking the actually on-board diagnostic port plug connector under the steering wheel needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where I can find one for my 03 Tacoma? I tried looking online but I can't find one.

Sounds like a connection issue. I would start with some electrical cleaner. Home depot/lowes sells some in electrical aisle.

Or go to a junkyard and chop one off of another taco. Solder and done.

If that doesn't work, I'd buy an aftermarket extension and chop it then cut the one off the truck and solder it. While you're at it, if you want to reroute it, this is the time.
