I am looking to purchase a used Tacoma and will travel to get it. I hope there is an OBD reader with simple use for a novice that can assist in identifying problems in advance of purchase that I can take with me.
Basics from a knowledgeable person would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Reserected from the dead.
The scan gauge 2 is the easiest.

There are versions that work with your phone that are simple to figure out. You just need a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the obd port.

Torque and Fusion are theit names.

Most little bluetooth dongles off Amazon will do the trick. I just download an app and plug in the dongle and I can read codes and even get a data list like fuel trims, O2 sensor readings, etc. If you know what you're looking for you can also tell if someone cleared codes before you got there. Typically emissions readiness is incomplete.
