    I'm with you.

I used to be overweight, not much, but overweight. One day, I just decided to change what I ate, and I lost 50lbs in about six months. Now I'm in the best shape of my life. It wasn't that hard.

Just like many of you I'm sure, I drive by four McDonalds', two Wendy's, two or three Five Guys' and a couple Taco Bell's everyday...I haven't stopped at a single one in over a year...

Absolutely, you choose whether to do stuff. I started chewing tobacco when i was 12. It got the best of me, then at 34 I said I was done. In the trash it went, never to do it again. And I didn't pick another vice to compensate it. Except toys for my TOY. So stop with the excuses and get the fuck up off the couch. I saw a guy one day order a large pizza, and a side of nacho's. This guy was about 5'11" pushing probably 450. He took the order of nacho's put them on the pizza and rolled the large pizza up like a taco and ate it. Sad part is he is in Law Enforcement.

I agree with both of you, do not have sympathy for anybody with an addiction. If you have a problem stay away from it!!!!

My biggest weakness is caffeine and/or soda. I am convinced I am addicted to it. More than 4 hours or so without some sort of caffeine and I get a massive headache. Have a cup of coffee, Monster, etc... and I'm fine.

I used to drink two, 2L bottles of Diet Dr. Pepper a day when I was back in dispatch...while there are no calories in it, that much soda will murder your GI system in no time.

So...I just stopped. I replaced it with either bottled water, or water with all natural flavoring in it.

This was at the same time as my weight loss, and I think the removal of soda from my diet really helped.

They may not be addicted, not everyone who orders a beer or has a shot is an alcoholic. It's all about moderation (even though marijuana carries other consequences legally, everyone who smokes isn't necessarily an addict).

Obesity is hard to overcome, you can't lose 100 lbs overnight but you do something to help yourself. Obese people didn't get to 450 lbs overnight either, small lifestyle changes go a long way. If you cut down your portion size, eat healthier, maybe start walking as a past time, it all helps. If you're 450, you're not going to go run a marathon but you can start walking 10 minutes then work up from there. I've found that having a past time or hobby helps take your mind off food. Point being, if you're obese, you need to take responsibility for your own actions and do something to help yourself.

i'm not obese and never have been, but i HAVE been bigger than i am now. i'm still kinda heavy, i'd like to lose about 10-15 more lbs but i run, bike, walk, and try to eat healthy. i was around 230 and now 215 at 6' tall. i lost the weight pretty easy but i float between 212 and 215 these days. i feel great! and it does bother me to see the things you guys have described and i was there once. i ate mcdonald's and taco bell EVERY day and almost every meal and i'm in the military. i love being able to get out and run a mile or 2 with no problem.

i have no sympathy for the people that don't want to help themselves but if they want help, i'll be patient and help the best i can. some people just don't want the help.

Lard asses are everywhere now, you can almost become numb to seeing it. The gov should heavily tax junk/fast food, actually makes more sense than hitting up tobacco imo as it is so much of an epidemic. I lived in Europe for a few years, a real eye opener for me. I was amazed at how thin everyone was. Obesity here is the norm, over there it was a very rare sight.

The only thing that bothers me about overly obese people is when they treat it as a disease or use it as an excuse. In most situations it was their choice to get that fat.

Calling somebody obese or overweight is one thing, calling somebody a derogatory name isn't necessary.

There are more than likely folks on here that feel they are overweight or not happy with themselves, and even though we may not completely empathize with them, it does not mean we need to make them feel bad about it.

I hate when a person with multiple chins speeds up to get in front on you in the drive thru. Are they afraid of losing one of their chins?

    neglect, mostly.
x2. back in high school our English teacher senior year was some 400+ lbs im sure. she kept going on and on about how she's always been heavy and how it's so hard for her to lose weight. my buddy (who's an Army Ranger now) told her "i can make you lose weight", just right there in the middle of class. "excuse me?" she said. he said, "if you do exactly what i do and eat exactly what i eat everyday for 1 year i promise you will have lost over 100 pounds". i remember she made a little joke about being much older and having kids and that crap, but you better believe she didn't bring it up the rest of the year! lol.

yeah, man that is just terrible for your kidneys! and diet soda is just as worse as regular. the artificial sweeteners don't break down like sugar does so it's poor for your digestion. but no calories! . . oh yeah, im in a food science class.

    Much appreciated.

I know - I've been drinking a lot more of it here recently and I need to stop. I was big into Zevia for a while but that shit gets expensive pretty darn quick.

Another awesome product for those who like to drink a lot throughout the day is Stevita (Amazon ) - certified organic and it tastes amazing.
