Parked at the store today, as I was walking up to the pickup, I noticed something in my tire. Often little rocks will get stuck between treads, so it's nothing to worry about.

    This time I noticed this:

Looks like a fencing staple that has been worn down.

I did have the 30K service today, they must not have noticed this when the tires were rotated, or it happened in the ~100 miles between.

Based on where it is located, I feel so long as it stays put, it won't cause any issues. Should I be worried about it staying in the hole it has created, and get this fixed?

I'd remove it. Chances are you're right and it would do no harm, but it would bother me.

That would drive me nuts knowing it's there. Just keep monitoring your tire pressure sensor display. If it goes down then definately get it fixed.

I would get it fixed. If and/or when it decides to go, it will be at the most inopportune time. Its away from the sidewall so should be fixable???

I'd drive to your dealer, or to a trusted tire repair shop, and pull it there. That way, if it starts leaking, you can get it taken care of on the spot. If not, then you can monitor it for a few days, or maybe it won't leak at all.

The longer it stays lodged into the tread there's a good chance if it has penetrated the cord that it is causing more damage

If you drive over 15 to 20 mph then you need to fix it. Kaufman Tire will fix it for free.

Spray it with some soapy water an see if it bubbles. If it is not leaking just pull it out. If you leave it. I will slowly cause more damage. Get it fixed.

I'd 2nd this. If you are going to pull it, do it in a tire shop parking lot.

spray some soapy water on it and see if it leaks, if it doesnt then first get a patch kit, we had one of these at a motorcycle shop I worked at for a bit and it worked great, dont see why it wouldnt work on cars but you should check first, after getting a patch kit, use some wire cutters to remove the staple(not cutting it but using them to grip and leverage it out), listen and spray more soapy water where the staple was, if no soap bubbles build up there you should be fine, if they do then insert a patch, reinflate the tire and check for leaks again.

Take some pliers an move it around while spraying it. If it is bubbling leave it an go get it fixed. If not pull it out if you don't have any doubts. Best thing to do is take it to a tire shop. Go from there.

I'd fix it, or have it looked at, maybe it would never cause an issue, maybe when your out in the boonies on a cold rainy night your tire goes flat, better safe than sorry!
