    84-86 is a 2 tape/disc set. I could send it your way if interested. It's in 192kbps mp3 though.

Does everything we are talking about apply to songs ripped in iTunes to MP4’s? I have approximately 20,000 songs on iTunes on my PC, fully organized. If I copy them to a usb will the head unit on my 2021 TRD OR w/ premium and advanced technology packs read it without it all having to be converted?

As long as it's standard LC-AAC, Entune should play the mp4 files. I believe they need to have the .m4a Extension though.

Thanks -- I will give it a try. However, I have another question. I realize you probably do not have CarPlay, but perhaps someone can chime in. I have approximately 10,000 songs on my iPhone, but CarPlay only lets me see the last few added or played. I cannot seem to browse through the entire library on CarPlay, although I can ask Siri to find it. At one point I did see all of my artists, but do not know why. Perhaps it is only when you are in neutral?

Gotta find it on your phone - not the display while driving. When stopped you can see more.

Yes, with my iPod Classic the only limit with the files was on the iPod, but like you said, slow and difficult to manage...the USB thumb drives are so much faster and you can just drag and drop stuff on your PC making it super easy.

Has anyone tried a refurbished iPod or had their iPod refurbished? I have an 80 gig iPod classic connected to my 2020 and it works. Slow but manageable. All track selection etc is done through the infotainment screen instead of the iPod. Took some getting used to after years in use with our prior 2003 Pathfinder.

However, I was thinking it might be worthwhile to have it refurbished with a new battery and SSD of 1 terabyte. I would think it would be faster and longer lasting with a new battery. Most of my files are .flac but I do have a sizable .mp3 collection.

Has anyone gone this route? Sorry if this has already been asked earlier. This guy (Remy Sternbach) does the upgrade. https://www.cultofmac.com/626220/1tb-ipod-remy-sternbach/ https://irefresher.com/

Too much trouble for me, I'd already be where I was going to before I finally picked the first perfect song to listen to. I listen to classic/alt rock on the radio when driving local or a radio app/Pandora on road trips.

    Hello All:

I have a puzzler that happens with my USB drives and wanted to know if anyone else has encountered it or if they have a solution... Granted, it is a first world type of annoyance.. but any help/insight would be appreciated!

My audio is shut off when I restart the truck while the USB drive is in and playing upon shutdown. Like, if I drive to the store listening to USB music and shut off the truck, do my shopping and get back in and fire the truck up the Audio is off on the head unit and I have to manually turn on the audio??

The thing is, it only happens with a micro USB drive and does not happen with a regular USB drive. I cannot figure out why or how to fix it.

Music was on a regular 16GB USB drive and worked fine with this USB drive, when I started the truck, the audio automatically comes back on with the same song playing as it was shut off. The only problem is that the USB was very large and I wanted to use a tiny one... (1st mistake - don't mess with what is working.) Here is an example of the type and make of drive that works without issue. 16 GB Sandisk Cruiser.

    16 GB Reg USB.jpg

So I got a mini drive like this and copied the music and it works like the above flash drive except that when i shut off the truck, the audio is off when I restart the truck?? Both are 16 GB and FAT32 and have the same music files on them. One works without issue, the other causes the audio on the head unit to be off when starting the truck?

    16 GB Micro Drive.jpg

Anyone else encounter this or know why this happens? Thank you!

I'm using the 256GB version of that SanDisk UltraFit drive. Using only 1, I have no issues. When I was using 2 with a hub, it seemed like one was taking longer to initialize than the other, causing a full rescan of both drives upon startup.

I have had that happen to me and it turned out to be the USB stick was bad. It would do at random, I would be listening to USB music, get to my destination shut the truck off with entune on. Come back out and restart the truck and entune would be off. I only figured it out when I tried to add music to the stick and my computer would not read it. Try to see if your computer can read the suspect USB stick. Hopefully this helps.

I appreciate the replies. I have been conducting testing of various flash drives today after my post, consisting of copying all music to different flash drives and running down to the truck to test... No love.... I think for now, I am going to use the big one that does not give me issue and perhaps revisit after obtaining a new one like DES2009 suggested.

they were all brand new, I just got one yesterday and no luck. I was hoping it was something simple. bizarre

Thanks again! I will let everyone know if I figure it out.

I have three of the one I linked to earlier (we did have three vehicles until the summer). It works fine in all of my cars, hopefully it will work for you. :fingerscrossed:

I haven't tested much the one that seems to cause the occasional rescan. The computer doesn't show any issues with it. Both of mine do have a slight rattle to them though.

I wonder how difficult it is to diy that 1tb & battery overhaul. I leave my 80gb 5th gen classic in the taco and it’ll die out because the battery is so old by charges back up when I’m driving.

Hi, I've been reading this thread and followed the advice to use a USB stick to put my music on. So far, so good; I can play all of the songs I've ripped from CDs.

But... The browse function only seems to work fully when the truck is not moving. I can navigate through folders, search for artist, etc. when stopped but as soon as I'm actually driving Entrust only allows me to work with the very first folder I put on the USB stick. Even if I'd been playing a song from some other folder, when I start moving, no matter what function I choose (e.g. Folder, Composer, Album, etc.) Entrust selects the first cut on that first folder I put on the stick. If the system doesn't want to let you browse while driving, it should say so.

Is this normal behavior or do I need to do something with the ID3 tagging discussed earlier in this thread? Right now, I have to pull over and stop every time I want to search for a song, which sucks.

I think that is how it is meant to work -- including Apple CarPlay, which I was so stoked to get. As it turns out, under these conditions CarPlay for music is almost worthless. I have over 10,000 songs on my iphone and/or ipod and I cannot access them while driving. I can use Siri, but if I am in an area with no cellular connection, (which by the way is when you listen to music most) Siri cannot retrieve a song/album for me. So, my only alternative is to pull over, or grab my iphone while driving in order to make another selection. Absolutely ridiculous and contrary to the safe driving they are trying to promote by locking you out when you are over 5 mph. An incredible disappointment.
