No issues with my '18...other than constantly stealing my wallet and buying shit for itself.

This kind of works. However, when I'm in S mode on the highway booking it around 75-80 the transmission still automatically downshifts to, what I assume, prevent you from bogging the engine in a high gear at high speed. Kind of annoying, because I'm pretty sure the motor still makes plenty of power to not bog down.

@TailHook I agree about the $$$ thing. I've owned several Harleys. Same thing. We quit riding a few years back when a couple that was good friends of ours got killed on a ride. We then went to Jeeps. Currently our '17 Wrangler keeps my 'rathole' in my wallet pretty drained. It's my wife's daily driver and every time I change something when she gets in it she's like "ok, something's different...what'd you do now?" lol. And these Tacomas are the same thing. And this site makes it worse, lol. Jeep stands for 'just empty every pocket'. The same can be said for the Tacoma...

I'm glad you are a happy Taco owner!

For shits and giggles, it would be interesting to know what your calibration ID is. 04A61 (A/T) and 04A71 (M/T) are updated versions (TSB) for '18s IIRC.

I pick up a 2018 that just got off the boat at the port. Its as fresh as a daisy with no miles. Its a 4 door, TRD Sport with 3.5 6. I'll report whatever I see regularly on this forum. Might take a while until I learn everything about it, as its quite a bit more sophisticated than my 2005 Tundra 4x4. If I timed this right it could very well be my last vehicle. Can't wait to get comfortable with it. Test drive was flawless. Sensors were sensitive. Ride was great and slightly softer than the TRD Off Road as would be expected.

Congrats on the new Tacoma. Confused a bit though regarding the ride. It's a pretty common opinion that the Off Road rides 'softer' than the Sport. Any one else wanna weigh in???

I test drove both before I bought my OR...the Sport is definitely stiffer (TWSS).

S mode still allows the transmission to shift automatically, I bump to S5 if I see it shifting between the two OD gears 5th and 6th especially when trying to maintain speeds up to 80mph in a headwind or hilly terrain.

You can reprogram all you want but it's still not going to change the ratios or remove the fact you have 2 OD gears.

TC lock control, are you talking traction control?

Sure you did not get the Models confused? The Off Road has a softer smoother ride compared to the sport.

I've got no concerns with power but the vibration you mentioned is terrible in my 18 built in May I think. My cpu is up to date.

I absolutely love my 2018 SR. After reading about so many issues, I was on pins & needles hoping nothing was wrong with mine. But the truck drives so well...I've never looked forward to the morning commute until I got this truck
