Go south on Hwy 12 until you get to Buxton. Once you see the Red Drum Tackle Shop on the left your gonna want to take the next left towards the Cape Hattaras lighthouse. Go to the end of the road and air down your tires and go onto the sand to the right and follow that road to the beach and you will see trucks in and out of there and go down to the end where all the trucks are. FYI the beach opens at 6AM, that's typically one of the best times to be out there for catching blues and spanish. If you stop at the Red Drum, they can tell you what is in season and what people are catching. Good luck and have fun. Here are some pics.

Not sure. I always go the first week in august and that's always been the time. I figured it was the same all year around. It might be different in July for some reason.

That sucks. sorry dude. I was informed the other day that it actually opens the week we get there in August. I swear the birds have had room for forever. They already got a crap ton of the point. Do they really need all of it?! But anyways hopefully next time you go its open.

I'm headed down to Nags Head with my family for the week of thanksgiving. What places are open for beach driving this time of the year? Fishing tips for this time of year also welcome!
