2022 TRDOR DCLB 3,300 miles. Running the latest KDMax tune. Costco top tier 87. So on random occasions after coming to a stop I press the throttle and get nothing. It's like it's starving for fuel or air or both. Just bogs down and requires 3/4 throttle to get moving and then responds erratically. Idles normally. The condition will persist for a little bit then it's back to normal. Haven't been able to establish a pattern yet but seems to happen after a 5-10 mile drive at constant highway speed. Like I said it's random and not predictable. Makes me hesitant when pulling out into traffic. It's got to be electronic. Anyone else experienced this?

remove the tune and see what happens. I would rule that out before you start digging any further.

Mine had a bit of that hesitation behavior when stock but no tune ever produced such an issue for me. Like the great suggestions, seeing if you can replicate it stock would be ideal. I've also come across this article in the past and it's free to try so perhaps give it a whirl and see if it addresses the issue: https://www.replicarclub.com/how-to-reset-the-throttle-position-sensor-in-a-toyota/

If the reset doesn't resolve and then if stock doesn't resolve perhaps it's dealer time!

Wonder if it has something to do with the traction control being on. I turned my off, truck shreds tires whenever i nail the petal.

Well I tuned it at 250 miles and the problem just started recently so I don't think it's tune related.

I agree. Should not be tune related.
Since you are still under warranty, I would take it in to the dealership and describe it to them, let them see what they find. Might just be a loose intake hose or bad sensor or something else simple to fix.
    Keep us posted.

This would happen on my '13. Randomly I'd loose throttle for a few seconds then it'd kick back in.

Well I’m still perplexed. Issue is still occurring. Best I can describe it is like you are trying to start in 6th gear. Just bogs down and will slowly pick up speed. No pattern that I can detect. I did bump it in to neutral while this was happening and the throttle response is normal. No codes, no lights. I’m going to flash back to the stock tune later this week and see if it still happens. If so I’ll take it in and let the dealer figure it out.

Mine used to lag when punching the gas to merge onto the highway when it was stock. With the kd max tube it pretty much solved the issue. Yesterday it lagged as if it was stock while merging. Did not miss that feeling….
This truck is kind of a dog to be honest

I'm happy with the way the truck drives (sans the current issue) with the KDMax tune. It is kind of a dog but I didn't buy it to race around in. Thinking back my current issue coincided with me filling up at the new Costco that just opened up across the street. Been running Costco gas ever since. Went back to Buc-ee's yesterday and filled up. Truck did not act up today. Can't see how that would make a difference.

try some higher octane gas and see if anything changes. you might be getting some pinging especially with this hot weather and the ECU might be pulling timing.

Almost sounds like the truck has brain fog. Maybe you need to give it more time so the transmission learns your driving habits. My truck acted similar till it had 1500 miles on it. At 18k its been fine like any other auto owned, and its all stock except for the tires.

Mine has been the same since I got it almost 4 years ago. I can even tap the pedal really fast all the way down and nothing will happen if I’m quick enough. Also every time I drive it it’s like the accelerator pedal has a different sensitivity to it. Sometimes to the point I swear it’s trying to take off in 2nd gear. And no, the tunes, high octane gas, ETC did nothing to improve it. Learned to live with it..

Thats really weird. No way should it act like that. I just barely touch the go pedal on my truck and the engine instantly responds making more rpm on the tach. I'd definitely complain on that one.

I had the same issue after the OTT tune. Had the tune redid to 8.0 and removed the throttle adjustment of the tune and the hesitation has mostly gone away.
