October wheeling trip

I'll join y'all in a caravan. 10-4

I'm in as of now. Turnaround could throw a wrench in those plans but I don't think it will at this point.

Is this a guys' trip... the GF always wants to go and id like to just say no.

 

I figured it was an anyone could come.
I know my girlfriend was planning on coming out it she doesn't have a lot of school work to do.

 

My wife was going to join but can't work out sitters for the kids. I'd bring my girlfriend but don't have one.

 

We can fix that for $1500 for the weekend.

 

Ok it's settled then she'll be coming with

David, what's your experience with the tx4wd group? Rigs built to crawl? Just wondering if they will be hitting the extreme trails while we (Tacomas) do our own thing.

 

I've only been with them for a few months, so my experience is limited. You'll probably get a varying group of rigs out there. From what I've seen, only about 20%, if less will be trailer queens built to take on whatever. The bulk of everyone else is modified to some degree (mainly tires and lifts), while there's about 30% bone stock. So I'm sure there will be at least 3 groups taking looking for varying level of trails. But expect a lot of Jeeps.

 

I figured jeeps mostly. I've been trying to get my jeep buddy to go but he can't commit yet.

 

The Houston chapter is having their monthly meeting this Friday at Bubba's Burgers. I'll ask and see what they have planned out in the way of trails, guides, and what have you.

Anyone bringing good beer/whiskey for the evening?

 

Beer of course. Some good drinkable beer and a few seasonals if the weather is cool.

 

And I think I'll try out a dutch oven recipe for Friday night

 

I'll bring some Mother in Lager (if it's out) and TX whiskey.

Cool. I'll bring my 6qt as well. What are you looking at making?

 

Hell, all I have is a 12qt. I need to size it down. Was looking at a few recipes online but haven't decided yet.

I wasn't a fan if the Mother in Lager.

 

The split chicken and wild rice is easy. As is cobbler
I'm waiting until the week of to see how the weather is before I try to figure out what to eat.

And good. Means more MiL for me!

Rough couple of weeks so i need this break. Hope the weather is nice, wheeling is good and company is better.

Getting more excited about this trip as it gets closer. Hopefully the weather cools down a bit before then. Not sure if anyone likes it but i'll have a bottle of wild turkey with me.

 

Trip should be fun as long as the rain stays away after next week.

I don't think we can bring glass to the park. That doesn't mean we can't put it in flasks.

 

I had to leave the FB group for Tx4wd Houston chapter, I couldn't stand it. They all talked about wheeling and had monthly meets at places 40ish miles away from me but when I make a suggestion to go somewhere no one would commit. 'Wife won't let me, Jeep might get damaged' and 'I will go to go, but I don't want to wheel a trail' were the most common answers. All their rigs are clean as hell, not even dirt on them.

 

Skyline jeep mentality strikes again. But the people I've been with don't care if it gets dirty because they know the rain will wash it off.

They do seem to get a better turn out when more chapters get involved. What part of town are you in? I know Bubba's Burgers has been the meeting spot for the last few months.
