    4L - 5 sp automatic

Is the 5th gear considered Overdrive?
Should I be towing a boat in 4th or 5th? Thanks. Otis.

    5th gear is considered OD.

Most on here recommend towing in 4th and manually selecting gears to prevent lugging the tranny.

tow in 4th, the whole point of towing in 4th is to avoid gear hunting and overheating the transmission, but if you are able to maintain 5th without having to downshift to 4th every second go for it.

I was towing a trailer with aQuad down the highway 60-70mph range in 5th and it felt good. Only occasional downshifting on some inclines. Tow pkg has the supplemental tranny fluid cooler. Temps were ok. Thanks for the advice.
