I was skeptical of such a specialized shop at first, but after calling around a few places to get quotes on installing suspension components they came in near the lowest, and encouraged me to buy my shocks from elsewhere at a good price I'd found since they couldn't match it through their distributor. Even now they said I don't need to replace the EVAP, that it's just singing its little tune.

Thanks for letting us know, learn something new everyday. Mine was fairly high mileage but never did anything that sounded like that, even on the hottest of days.
    Ride on sir!

Probably cause yours is under the bed. 01 was the last year to have it under the hood. It's not very loud, you probably have to stick your head under the truck to hear it. As said, usually only makes noise when it's hot and/or your tank is pretty empty.

It might be haunted yet. I was poking around under the dash the day after I bought the thing trying to assess if the e-brake switch was working. There was an old CB coax cable tucked under there that fell out right smack into my eyeball, resulting in an urgent care visit. I've been treating the truck with a healthy dose of respect lest it try to maim me again.

Now that you mention this, I am the same way, specifically with the supercharger. Idle sounds normal, high RPM sounds normal. Under load below 2k up to 2500 though always sounds “noisy”.

Its been doing this since brand new. And it’s not ping, I was able to tune that out. It just makes noise and it isn’t a smooth, consistent noise in that area. Have you experienced this?

Hm, I'm not sure about that one...I do get bad sounds from 2k - 2.5k but it's definitely pinging. If I hit too much boost under 2.5k it'll ping especially if it's hot outside. I don't think my 7th injector starts adding fuel until around 2.5k RPMs + boost

From what I understand Unless you have it set up right it does nothing in closed loop. so once your truck warms up it’s not going to help the ping. Unless yours has the closed loop capability

I only get pinging in open loop, but the issue is that even in open loop it won't add fuel until it senses a certain amount of load (I believe) which usually happens around 2.5k RPM. If I go WOT at 2.5k RPM (or higher), no pinging...if I go WOT at say 2k or 2.3k RPM then I'm in ping city and have to back off the throttle.

Another member on here sent me a file for the 7th injector that tunes it differently to add fuel earlier on but I haven't figured out the logistics of customizing it yet to add that tune. That's a whole other topic lol

Yeah, man! My truck now has another three years and 40,000 more miles on it from when I originally posted this thread. The frog still visits in the summer, but the EVAP system hasn't given me any problems otherwise since the initial post. Glad to hear that someone benefited from my worrying about the noise!

it is your evap canister. On later years they moved it to by the fuel tank. Next time it does it take you fuel cap off the relieve the pressure and the sound will go away.
