Hi all, I'm at my wits end with my truck (07 DC 4WD) and hoping someone can offer some advice:

I usually have a ScanGauge hooked up to the OBDII port, which has been working fine. Took the truck in to have a smog check done, and the tech could not get their scanner to communicate with the truck. They even tried another scanner and called in their supervisor, with no luck.

Hooked the ScanGauge back up, no problem. Took the truck to O'Reilly's to see if their scanner would work..no luck there either.

Checked all the fuses in both fuseboxes, and everything is good. All the pins on the connector look fine.

Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?

    Thanks!

There's a few other posts about this, although I'm not sure how they had it resolved. It seems to be more of an issue with the garages scanner than the truck iirc.

Thanks, I found a couple of references but it doesn't seem like anyone ever got full resolution, or at least didn't post the final outcome. My first thought was something was bad with the emission's test facilities' scanners or their tech/supervisor, but I think I ruled that out by the trip to O'Reilleys, whose scanner worked just fine on another car in the lot.

At this point I'm suspecting an issue with the connector in the truck, like maybe the pins on the Scanguage stretched out the connector contacts.

    Yes
I had the same prob but it was my OBD fuse, did you find the ODB fuse under the hood ? Most scanners are not self powered which is why it will not work if the fuse is popped so the port itself is not supplying power.

If that were true his Scangauge wouldn't work either. It is also powered by the OBD2 Port.

Figured it out last week. Posting this just in case anybody else has the same issue.

Took it to the dealer (2nd trip in a dealer service bay in 100,000 miles) for them to investigate. Their scanner, actually three different scanners, worked just fine. No charge for them to check it out.

Took it to a different smog check station. No luck, still failing, smog test staff was slightly less than useless.

Removed the connector from the plastic housing, and found that the middle two pins (data pins) on the Scanguage appeared to have pushed the pins on the connector back about 1/16". I opened up the flaps on the connector, and reseated all of the pins.

Took the truck to O'Reilley and this time their tester made a connection.
Put the connector back in the housing, returned to the original smog station, and FINALLY passed.
