I have heard a couple noises on my new 2016 DCLB TRD OR that are a little confusing. I have only 900 miles on it.

The first was at maybe 200 miles, from a stop, I slowly accelerated into a left turn and it sounded like i drove over a bunch of hard plastic - with this loud crunching noise. I looked back and didn't see any thing in the road, and so was baffled as to what that noise could have been. The best i can imagine is a rock in my tire came un-lodged and got knocked around the wheel well (although I was driving on pavement for a good while since being over anything gravely and teh sound was more like something getting crushed). No system alerts or re-curing issue with this, but that sound still haunts me a little since I have no explanation for it. Any ideas?

The second happened twice yesterday, at different times. It was somewhere between a clank and a ping sound (a klaching?)....occurring only once as I accelerated (fairly slowly, at that). It was a metallic sound, and sounded like some type of binding pressure had been released. Any idea about that one?

I'm not having any issue with the performance of the truck, but nevertheless don't appreciate the anomalous sounds and am curious if anyone has any clue about what can be going on with either or both. I've read a little bit about the un-greased zerk / u-joint issue, and so maybe that's the problem.

Bushing failure possible somewhere on body or in suspension. I'd have it looked at by the dealer. It is new so should be under warranty. There have been quite a few quality control issues with the Third Gen Tacoma so I would definitely get it looked at soon to rule out anything serious.

Any chance you were driving in 4wd at the time? Might be the transfer case binding due to turning on pavement.

The second noise sort of sounds like what I might be hearing now when my A/C compressor kicks on, it seems to be getting louder...

I called my dealer (friends with salesman there) and asked if my AC was on because it can apparently make such a noise. I'm 95% sure my AC was not on, but will keep the radio off and pay attention over the next few days.

I've had a strange lugging rattle (metal on metal) noise since about 5000 miles. I say lugging rattle because that's exactly what it sounds like with the manual. It happens during acceleration usually below 3000 rpms. I've also heard it on start up after the initial start up rev. Haven't gone under the truck to see if it's an exhaust clamp so that's a possibility. I probably notice it every 500 miles so it's not common but does happen. Could also be a rock in the skid plate for me. Haven't cared enough to chase it down with how infrequent it is.
