I bought this 2005 Toyota Tacoma from my brother in law after he was told it needed a new engine by his Mechanic. It only has 50k miles on it and Looks near new.
The compression is good, not like the Mechanic told Him.
I can start it if I add fuel by means of a vacuum line directly into the intake manifold.
Once started it runs great, but will not restart the next morning.
    Where do I start looking??

Not sure about the 2005 models, but in my 1999 3RZ, the fuel pump will not turn on until it receives a signal that the starter motor is cranking. Not sure what generates that signal, though. That would be one place to look.

    Thank You tan4x4
I will fallow up on your suggestion and keep you posted.
I previously owned a 1999 4x4 Tacoma with nearly 300k miles on it. after selling it I realized i will always need a truck so I jumped at the chance of getting this one with only 50k miles on it and I know the previous owner. I do 90 percent of all my own work on my vehicles. I'm a machinist by trade. But this has been one of those puzzling problems.
The sad thing is, I believe the Mechanic completely miss diagnosed the problem and may have tried to take advantage of his customer. Which ended up being a good deal for me.
I will not share the Mechanics business name until I am sure of the problem and fix it. But he is near your location. of Folsom Ca.
    Thanks again
