Completed this on my 06 with a 2012 lower console upgrade at the same time. Everything works great!! The only thing that I can't do is a backup camera install because the 24 pin harness for the camera was not there in 06'. So I may need to either run either a mirror camera or try a 2014 Tacoma Radio Camera Interface Kit from camera source. If anyone knows how to install that it would be great.

06yoda, i just installed my FLTrucks 2014 nav unit in my 06 and the OEM backup camera went in fine. I used a salvage, not sure what year it was, but only had the camera and tailgate wiring. Ran shielded 4-wire down the length of the truck with the other wires and into a 24-pin male connector i bought to fit the OEM 24-pin female, with reverse-trigger from the kick panel fuse area.

it works flawlessly but you do have to solder a bit.

found all the info here for pinouts, etc but it's spread over multiple threads. if you want to wire and OEM camera in your 06 i can help.

Yes. Completely plug and play. You will see the connector for the navigation antenna in the wiring harness. You will receive a nav antenna with the new HU but you will not need it. Enjoy!

    FLTruck's 2014 OEM Nav upgrade!
Joined up just for this opportunity and sent a PM to FLTrucks. The dealer told me it would be a $4K mod, require complete rewiring and void my warranty to get the nav system (2014 TRD double cab with "Entune" Audio Plus). I'm very happy to learn that this way might work.

The dealer is filling you full of BS. For one thing the wiring harness with nav connection from your shark antenna is already there. No complete wiring needed. Also, typically anything a dealer installs that is factory equipment is warranted for up to one year.
My dealer part adviser actually told me he called the factory and it could not be done at all. LOL. You should have seen his face when I took it in for service and showed him. Then the icing on the cake was when I told him I did it myself in 30 minutes. One of the service guys was cool and confirmed that Toyota "heavy wires" most all vehicles for most all optional equipment.

OK, mine is about to be shipped. I currently have 2014 with XM, HD, etc. I assume it should be plug and play? Is there a thread with a step by step install?

    Thanks,
