I watch with interest (Chicago area also, broadly defined) because I have a pair of pretty nice polished stainless step bars that will be available soon, and I would rather see them go to good use as opposed to being carted off as scrap metal by the Mexican guy in the beater full-size pickup. Not hatin' on the Mexican guy, every neighborhood has one, and if they weren't around, how else would you dispose of that steel item that your regular refuse hauler doesn't want to take?

I am a little confused by your post. Are you interested in buying, or are you suggesting I leave them for my Mexican scrap guy? Lol
I mean he pays us good money for our scrap at my shop, but no way in hell am I scraping these nice boards!

 

Sorry for the confusion, I was mostly just musing to myself about how we here in the Great White (with road salt) North generally don't do a lot of customization to our vehicles. I rarely see another Taco that has had any exterior mods done. The majority of listings in the BST thread are people on the Left Coast, some down South, and a few on the Right Coast. As I said, like you, I've got a perfectly good set of oem step rails that I'd like to see go to a good home. I just ordered a new set of SCS Stealth 6 wheels yesterday, which means I'm going to have a set of powder-coated bronze 4Runner wheels that I would like to get rid of, in addition to the set of original Sport wheels taking up space in my garage. Sure would be nice to find someone locally who could make use of these things. I don't care if I make a nickel off the transaction, just don't want to see them go to waste.

I do wish you good fortune with finding a buyer for your running boards. Again, sorry for hijacking your thread a bit (but hey, you got a free bump out of it at least).

 

Another free bump haha. Have you tried posting them on any of the local Facebook pages/marketplace? (if you have one that is) Running boards seem to pop up a lot on there as well, not sure if they successfully sell though.
