Very interested too! Got the same email this morning. Will be looking to see what the solution is. JBL sound system is very underwhelming for sure.

I wonder what’s different to the previous JBL system.?? Are they now installing the next level systems on the assembly line ?

It is but it is still significantly better than the non JBL systems. But it could be improved.
They're not actually OEM, that's just their company name. They offer aftermarket sound systems but because of the complexity of Toyota's JBL system, nobody has offered an easy aftermarket system, until now.

Yeah, their website doesn't show anything yet, and can't select preorder at the bottom. I'm assuming that won't be available until next week some time.

I stopped waiting and got Real JBL aftermarket speaker for the dash front and rear doors and a Polk Audio sub. Probably spent about $500 total. Used the stock amp. Sounds great. Could be a little louder but I didn’t want to go with the hassle of a new amp. But totally worth it.

Coincidentally, I just looked before your post. But no, no updates. I'm thinking tomorrow morning, as that would make 1 week from the announcement. I'm not so sure I'll be excited though. Looking at what's offered for the 4Runner, they don't replace any speakers. I guess we'll see when it's released.

Still waiting for an update. Given that it’s been a week since the email that said “next week” it would seem like we are hours away.

If this doesn't involve new speakers or head unit, what could it be? Any ideas?

I’m somewhat skeptical. About a year and a half or so they did the same thing. I can’t find the post or email but it was along the same lines that they had a solution for the Tacoma jbl and they will release more info by the end of the week but never did. Hopefully this time they will come through.

It’s pretty weak to set your customers’ expectations by announcing a release and then not following through with it. It also makes one skeptical of the brand.
