This is awesome, but they need to have somebody proofread these before they send them out.

As upsetting as it was to find out it wasn't a week, but rather calendar month, I'm still excited that they finally have a solution.

No, OEM Audio Plus is a third party company with no affiliation to Toyota. The name can be slightly confusing at first. They use the OEM moniker because their solutions usually appear as if they could have been OEM. As in, very clean and not obviously aftermarket both in appearance and sound. The Tacoma solution in particular would require a keen ear and knowledge of the stock system to have even a chance of identifying it. Without looking under the driver seat or behind the rear seats of course.

Sorry I am an engineer by day testbed typically refers to the testing of the new solutions. I was under the impression you already had the announced upgrade for the premium JBL system.

If you can’t hear a difference unless you have a keen ear then they are barely an upgrade, which I doubt.

This is their take on who they are:

I think he meant visually. Your wife would probably not know / care about the new system, unless she was an enthusiast. I definitely know the difference.

So much confusion in this thread, it's fun to read.

    Keen ear, visually?

Lots of confusion in this thread

Females generally have better hearing than males, especially high frequency, so if they can’t hear a difference again that is not an upgrade.

It’s pretty simple, OEM fit and finish and way better sound quality.

He meant keen ear and visually.

They generally do because they generally don't work at jobs that they should be wearing noise protection AKA construction sites. My hearing is better than most. That said, being able to hear higher frequencies, does not mean that you appreciate good sound. It just means you can hear a bit more sound that others cannot.

Folks, I’ve had several of these in a 2014 FJ, 2017 Tundra, 2018 Tundra. The difference is absolutely amazing... period. I’ve been silently waiting for the JBL specific upgrade as I’ve been underwhelmed with a lot of the marketed upgrades on my TRD Pro, especially the sound system. The customer service, thought, and knowledge OEM Audio puts into their solutions is 5 star.

I can hear a difference and so will other enthusiasts. The average person who uses TV speakers wedged into flat screens? Nah, not unless you turn up the bass and even then they probably wouldn't connect the dots. Most people don't care about and would struggle to identify high quality audio.

To be clear, this is not a dig on the system in any way. The opposite in fact. The system can and will fly completely under the radar for 95% of passengers unless you tell them or push the system to the point it's obvious. Or...they have a keen ear.
