Definitely seems like it is a premium price for the "OEM" type integration. I was hoping for the $1500-2000 range initially - which is still a ton to spend on sound for most of us. (I'm NOT going to tell my wife..............)

But, I think a comparable quality setup if I were to get my own amps, wiring, speakers, sub and custom box could very easily put me in the $1500+ range. Not to mention I'd likely get a new head unit and that would put me at or near the price of the OEM+ solution.

I'm not trying to turn this thread into "I can do it cheaper argument" because you probably can. There are many ways to do it cheaper to get more bass by just adding a sub. I am content with the sound of my '15 with the replacement sub and that probably cost me around $600 total, all-in. It doesn't "wow" me, but I'm hoping my '20 will after this install! I'm sure there's no way you can compare my '15 setup with what this OEM+ setup is going to be like. Will it justify the huge price difference.................maybe.............maybe not. For a lot of people, I totally get it isn't justified. Heck, I will most likely have buyer's remorse after dropping $2500 for a system. Never spent that much on any system up until now!

Once I do get my OEM+ system installed, I'll gladly share my comments or try to create an objective review for others. Even if my review is glowing and says it is the best system, it still won't be for most people just because of the price point.

For late adopters that might want this setup at a lower price, keep track of me because if I ever sell this truck I will be taking the OEM+ system back out first!!!!!

I agree with everyone else. The price has likely removed me from interest!

Not blasting you Rob409, I just got a chuckle with your comment regarding the price being too high but you have a supercar in your profile pic.

Lmao got a giggle, maybe that’s why he can afford a lambo though. Knowing when something is ridiculously priced and not shelling out for it is a good principal to save some $$$. My grandfather was a depression baby and literally collects pennies and he’s the wealthiest person I know. He also drives a beat up rav4 with 300k miles on it though lol.

I am as well bailing on this system cause the price is ridiculous, I’m currently pricing out some of the highest quality components for half the price. Already got my pioneer HU in. It’s a lot of research but part of the reason I love this truck, so many DIY jobs possible. Also funny cause that’s part of the reason I’m broke (and grad school lol).

Great observation....however, I was able to pay cash for my Gallardo by being smart with my money. Almost $3k for this upgrade is ridiculous!

    not everyone else...

I’m pretty sure you can count on one hand, and maybe one finger, the amount of Lamborghini owners (Pre-Urus) that bought their cars because of the high fidelity stereo. Appreciation for one thing has nothing with another. I can’t understand someone paying anything for a cigar, but then again I don’t smoke cigars.

??? I don’t understand your analogy, I think you misinterpreted my comment. My comment had 0 to do with the sound system in lambos and everything to do with the fact they can run up to $210k plus tax. And here we are seeing someone that can afford that saying even this is ridiculous for a plug and play sound system. Lol.

And yeah, entune sucks so I’m actually fine with upgrading to apple carplay with a giant screen that can do anything and an actual hifi system. Wonder why they haven’t even sold the first 50 kits yet... I hope you enjoy your kit, but again to echo *pretty much* everyone else this price is absurd.

Simple, having the ability to purchase a Lamborghini has nothing to do with purchasing this audio upgrade for a Toyota Tacoma. Just because you can afford one doesn’t mean the other has any value to you.

Well that’s where we fundamentally disagree, which is fine. If I could shell out 210k for a car better believe I’d be able to shell out $$ for a good sound system for a truck. Also in this specific example obviously the audio “upgrade” is of value to him or else he wouldn’t be here, but in his words the price removed him from interest. I get that you purchased the kit and I’m actually curious how you end up liking it.

    Lambo= big money
Oem audio plus tacoma upgrade= little money comparatively but too much even for someone with big money

His left headlight is probably more than this sound system and even he thinks it’s too much is essentially my point.

He said he was smart with his money so that he could afford to purchase his Lamborghini outright. Most people would think spending $1000 on an upgraded, already “premium” OEM system is frivolous and not smart with your money since you’ll never see all of that money again. I’m doing it because I can afford it and I like quality audio.

I mean there are many factors to this... I for one spent extra money on the JBL system but primarily to get the sunroof and tech that came with the 2017s, also want to upgrade because it’s now almost 4 years old and doesn’t sound as good anymore. This isn’t meant as a personal attack on your spending, it’s just the general consensus is that this price is ridiculous and would be more reasonable at around half the price (or maybe a little more because of plug and play) based on the fact any one of us could piece together a better performing sound system for half of this price. Congrats that you can afford it though, seems like most people can’t (and there are others who drive lambos that won’t shell out this cause it’s semi absurd ) I think there are about 1 or 2 people who said they’re getting it as of now, and the price is about to go up.

I’m sure @oemaudioplus is listening to all of this feedback. Hopefully they come out with a lower cost solution. I’m sure their challenge is making an appreciable difference and given their previous systems I don’t think they would have priced this where it is unless it delivered.

Exactly, spent extra for the premium and tech packages that comes with the JBL. At this price point I'll get a nice head unit with wireless Android Auto and call it a day.

Hopefully they are. I already took the plunge and I’m deep in the crutchfield rabbit hole. At the end of the day I’m happy I’m going a different way, I just know a bunch of people have been waiting years for the oem plus JBL solution and it ended up so much more than most people are willing to pay- like you said, it’s so much more than anything else they offer. Let’s be real their set up isn’t winning any audiophile/innovation awards, and there are speakers we can put in our trucks that are for a comparable (or less) price point (audiofrog, focal, jl audio, etc).

I bought mine knowing what I’m going to get. Ease of install, customer service, phenomenal sound! (4th purchase) These same VALID concerns and arguments are on every forum regarding OEM AUDIO. I am clearly a fan and can’t say enough great things about the company.

it’s a lot like some people love the TRD PRO suspension and others bought the PRO with the intention of upgrading the suspension. (ME)

I respect everyone’s perspective and opinion but I have the strength to forge my own path.

    Yeah....

a JL Audio Stealth box with sub is about $800. The appropriate PAC plug n play box is about $280. A good 5 channel amp or 4 channel with a mono amp would be anywhere from $400-$800. Now you have to source your speakers and spend probably an additional $600-$800 (or less, depending if you just do your front stage)

I can see where they can charge this, as it’s a total package with support. But, you can source the same thing plus support from Crutchfield for a little less, but you’ll be playing trial and error in some cases.
I know it’s a lot, but bypassing the JBL system is pretty pricey.
