The battery on my 2017 Tacoma Limited lasted 12 months (6k miles). Replaced under warranty. Anyone else have such luck?

6k miles in a year and you live in Phoenix? Impressive!

I had to replace my battery in my Honda yearly in Vegas, something about that place killed them quick. I tried a couple different brands and they never seemed to last long. Luckily mine were replaced under warranty as well.

I have never had a battery issue in any of my cars. Normally get 3-4 years out of a battery.

The OEM battery on 2012 PreRunner failed after 8 months. The terminal was leaking gas and corroding. No questions asked replacement at the dealership. The new one was fine for the next 5 years and was going strong when I traded it in 2018. Sometimes you get a bad one.

If you're only getting 3-4 years out of a battery, then you're having lots of battery issues. Typically even in hot climates around 5 years is pretty much normal. Colder climates will see them last longer and 7 or more years isn't uncommon.

But any battery is a lot like light bulbs. Sometimes for reasons impossible to predict they just don't last long. Some brands tend to be better than others, but it happens even to the best of companies.

Could have just been a bad battery. It is uncomon to have to replace after a year. You may have just had a defective battery

Little over 12 months here. Dealer replaced free of charge. Bad cell.
However its the ONLY problem I have had in over 2 years and I am OCD after reading here for that period of time and look at everything closely.
Did have a windshield break but that was from a huge bird hit at 60 mph which is understandable.

a year and a half and 12,000 miles and battery still going strong. And that's with so many aftermarket lights the Las Vegas chamber of commerce banned me from their city. :)

Everything can fail or last a life time.

I've seen 2001 4runners with original batteries, I've also seen dead oem batteries right off the delivery truck.

At my dealer we try to charge the batteries during the PDI inspection, and run it for about 10+ mins in the shop and a 10 minute drive.

Some new vehicles don't get sold right away and have lots of start stops for months, this is bad for an oem battery thats discharging.

Well I'm right on the line of yellow and orange so 3 years I guess. That means the warranty is up and I gotta buy it. That's how my luck runs.:annoyed:

When I lived in Phoenix I changed the battery every 3 years whether it needed it or not as regular maintenance item. Now that I live in Oregon where it's much cooler I'm going on six plus years on my current battery. I kind of want to wait for the fun of it and see how long it will go. I always carry a backup jumper battery kit so I don't get stuck.
