I recently purchased a 2025 TRD PreRunner that came with the OEM bedmat. This past week, I was driving on the freeway (it was a bit windy) and noticed the bed mat being blown up slightly above the bed rails. Fortunately it didn’t fly out of the bed.

I was looking over the mat in my new truck today and noticed that it seems pretty thin. I didn’t measure, but eyeballing it, looks to be between 1/4” to 1/3”.

I had a 3rd gen Tacoma around 3 years ago and remember the OEM mat being much thicker, at least 1/2” thick. Can anyone confirm this? I might be misremembering, but could sworn that the older mats are thicker/heavier.

My OE mat is thick and heavy, probably 35# or so. Pretty sure 2nd and 3rd gen mats are the same.

Can't imagine it even flopping around, much less be above bed rails.

Do you know how thick the mat is on the 2nd and 3rd gen? As I mentioned previously, the mat on my 4th gen looks to be between 1/4” to 1/3” thick.

When my mat lifted last week, it was the side closest to the cab. Went high enough for me to notice in the rear view mirror. Granted, it was due to the wind hitting it just right and hasn’t happened since. Freaked me out enough that I’m going to see if some 3M double sided tape helps.

The OEM bedmat in my 3rd gen measures .280-.290" thick (not counting the bumps on the bottom.

I had both the OEM bed mat on my 3rd gen and now the 4th gen. They feel exactly the same (thickness and material)

    That's a full 1/8" thicker than my 3rd gen.

I have the OEM mat in my 2024 Sport. I can't imagine it lifting up off the bed. Now, some of the after market ones certainly could do that.

Sounds like maybe you got hustled and they sold you something that they claimed was an oem bed mat but isn't. These things are very heavy, mine doesn't budge an inch, ever. Unless you are driving through a tornado, there's no way a real one would be lifting up when driving.

    2nd Gen OEM 5': looks like +- 5/8ths

As others noted, it's heavy, durable and doesn't move. Dragging branches, concrete blocks and pushing in an old washer and dryer for a trip to the transfer station left a few marks that faded a bit over time. That's it. A good rain washes away all the dust and road dirt.

Any chance you have an aftermarket mat that you only think is an OEM? Does it have anything that would identify it as a legitimate Toyota accessory?

My 3rd Gen OEM Bed Mat has never come up off the bed due to wind interference.

It's quite heavy and lays on the bed…solid!

    Just measured: 1/8 thickness

I had the OEM floor mats and the OEM bed mat in my 3rd Gen. They wouldn't fit the 4th Gen so I gave them to a buddy and have TripleAliners floor and bed mats on the way. Judging by YouTube videos, the new bed mat doesn't seem near as heavy as the OEM. The OEM bed mat was very, very heavy. And the TripleAliner floor mats provide much more coverage than the OEM floor mats.
