Thank god i got a block heater, this coming 2 weeks will get down below -30c + on some nights. I do hate the fact that the truck has its own cord and if that gets stolen then im fucked. Dont really wanna go down to the dealership to get a new one.

Getting chilly out there tonight. -28 this week.
Got my cords out and plugged into the timer. I keep the long one on the cab and the short on on the end of my extension cord at home.
3am-8am warm up before I have to start it sounds good.

My truck only came with a 10' or I would do the same. Wish they came with a frigging normal 110v plug, thier design is nicer on the eye as they can put a smaller porthole for the cord but fuction sometimes out weighs form.

My '15 Tacoma originated in Canada and I have one of these OEM engine block heaters. I do think I can get some use out of this once in a while when at my cabin in the Colorado mountains. What are the best practices for using this? This may be a dumb question, but do I just plug this in at night?

I had one on my second gen. I used an outlet timer (make sure you find one that’s rated for the amps of the heater, the Xmas light style ones usually aren’t up to the task) and set it to run for 2-3 hours in the morning before leaving for work.
