Why are you using cat 5? It's made mostly for internal wiring and not exterior...not sure if the elements will eventually degrade the wire jacket. I bought parts to run the camera wires from the tailgate to the receiver including the power pop and lock wires. What is the 16 pin connector for? Maybe my 2014 already has it and your 07 doesn't.

Not too sure on the cat5 yet, I can get out door wire I believe, if not I'll just run regular wire. From what I understand the 16 pin on the back of the HU is for the back up cam on the 2013 units and a 24 pin connector on the 2014 head units. I have no existing camera wiring at all. I also did not buy any camera harness for in the dash so that is why I had to buy the 16 pin male connector to build my own. Not sure if that answers what your asking or if it even makes sence.

I had 1 wire for my 2014 running from the back to the front, so I have to make my own cable too...since I'm doing it...I already have Pop n Lock handle, I thought I add power to it if one day the key breaks or something...I got a backup to open the tailgate. I have a few 6 pin cameras...just need to make the cables and run the wires and then deal with the back of the radio. If you want to spend $50 or so...it's pre-made cable camera source sell for trucks that don't have the wires already. It's worth it to be to buy, but I wanted to run the extra 2 wires, so I have to do it the hard way...I advise you to just buy it....but your call.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into that harness. I already have the connector coming and it was only 5 bucks... I'll give it a go and see what happens. What I do need is the part numbers for the two side brackets that mount the radio in the truck. My radio doesn't have any and I can't find them anywhere...

I have a 2015 base model, but i have conv. pkg. with entune head unit. The head unit does not have gps , so it must be the mid. level unit. Question is can I just by the camera, and i'm good to go. Truck is pre wired in the tailgate. If this is the case, what is the part number? thanks

I've got a 2011 Tacoma with existing camera and in mirror display with seperate compass and temp. What I'm wanting to do is use my factory wiring to connect a new mirror with compass and temp in the mirror display. The wires simply y-splice off the mirror harness in the headliner I already have the mirror it's a gentex 3320S w/o homelink. My problem is not wanting to fry my camera or mirror as it's 12v and the factory stuff is 6v. Any ideas where a guy could get the pinout for the mirror and if it's necessary to reduce the voltage. Again I'm NOT using a touch screen just upgrading the mirror to include compass and temp in mirror (wires coming from existing oe sources). Also do I really need an RCA cable?
