There is about a billion threads about CVs out on the Interwebz...:bananadead: But, after much reading it would appear that the first gen Taco and 3rd gen runners are the same. Unfortunately, I only found one thread where there were actual measurements, and only of the OEM Tacoma one. Like stated before though, a lot of aftermarket sites have the same part number for the vehicles. When I get around to ordering mine in the next month or so I will measure the OEM taco one and the Runner one and take pics. If all goes well, I'll rebuild the originals and have some OEM spares. If someone orders before me, take lots of pics and measurements:thumbsup:

'Manual lockers' meaning manual locking 'hubs'?

Yeah you'll want to order the part number for the complete cv axle shaft. You can order just the splined ends of the assembly, if you needed only that. The pricing at times doesn't seem logical, as you've noticed. If I had to guess, price would be that way based on supply. But just a guess.

Thanks man! After I posted, I did notice that the price is for remanufactured with core return. Got a great deal on CarQuest/Advanced Auto new axles, so I'll probably hold onto my OEM and swap them out with Toyota whenever I get a chance/funds.

They should be. I'm using a 1996 4Runner front differential.

Did you go with the high angle boots? How much did it end up costing you?

The auto parts store ones with lifetime warranties are cheap enough that you could buy an extra 1 or 2 and keep as spares for the trail.

They are relatively easy to replace, even on the trail.

But if you keep blowing CVs when you're wheelin' (OEM or aftermarket), it's time to think about SAS...

I believe I did go with the high angle boots. but can't find my receipt right now. I think it was right under $400 total shipped. $150 of that is a core charge so once you send yours back, you get the 150 refund. So roughly 250 shipped for the CVs. I ended up keeping my OEMs though for a rebuild and trail spare.
