OEM dashcam

So, an OEM dashcam is one of the many "port installed" options that were forced on me when I bought my TRD Sport. Before everybody flames on.....I had to take a truck with more options than I wanted because I couldn't find a TRD Sport with the Premium Package anywhere in the middle of the country.

Trouble is, I can't find even a mention of a dashcam anywhere in the manuals or online, to tell me how to use it. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Your salesman didn't do a proper delivery?

We always trained our guys to go over on how to use many of the features in their new vehicle, whether at time of delivery or at a later point (at their leisure).

 

No. I bought it 500 miles from my home because I couldn't find one nearer to me it that my local dealer would trade for. Sales guy was like, you're probably never coming back here, so he didn't spend much time with me.

Should have asked him if he would help you with your questions..I’m sure he would have if you had asked..maybe try the web for help

There is a Dashcam PDF Manual but most everything is done with the "Toyota Series 2.0 Viewer" app. Works great once you have it connected.

You’d think it would have been working when purchased. And there would be info on using it damm!

 

you'll have an opportunity when the survey comes from Toyota to discuss this. It's specifically one of the items that is supposed to be addressed.

The salesman kept going over this shit and I just got fed up and said listen, I don't care. I'll tell Toyota that you told me everything you need to tell me. You can mark down that you told me all of the stuff. I just want to leave. We're done.

 

Thank you. I couldn't find anything like that after a lot of searching. I'm guessing that this is the manual that should have been in the truck.

It would be a wonderful world if every dealer did that. My salesman knew so little that I was teaching him what most of the features did. Even the common sense stuff. You could tell he only knew about 2 or 3 features because he kept going back to talking about those. Lol. When I asked him a question about the brake controller, he looked at me lost. I googled it and found the answer before he did. I run into this all the time with sales people though, so it must just be a sign of the times.

 

Mine had a manual in the glove box. My salesman said that they are told not to touch them. I haven't looked into it yet. One feature that I wasn't interested in but may come in handy.

 

I also have a 2024 TRD Sport w/premium options package. I had my dealer install the OEM dashcam. There are lots of good videos on YouTube and the owner’s manual is available online. I have the app on my iPhone and iPad and have the viewing app on my home computers. The phone app is kinda sucky. The easiest way to view the videos is to remove the memory card and read the files on a computer.

 

Correct. Mine came with a smaller printed version that fits in the overall Toyota vinyl holder and fits with all the other manuals.
