    Has anyone who's swapped flares had any issues with adhesive coming off for some (or all) of the flares? I used the 3M mounting tape (linked below), and took extra care to clean the site thoroughly. My passenger front is coming off in a few spots, but all others seem to be pretty good. The dude I swapped with had even more issues than me.

    Any ideas?

    I did same as you. Clean all old adhesive, used rubbing alcohol to clean surface, and used same 3m tape as you. I noticed over the colder weather some places seem to have separated. Not bad enough that I am going to pull off and redo though.

    I have a set of siler sky flares in my attic, came off my 2017 OR, they have the pockets for faux screws, I can send you pics, they are larger than the black flares that come with the OR, they came with the southeast XSP package.

    As the dude who came up with the flare writeup and specifically recommended that tape, I'm surprised to hear you are having issues. To be fair though my truck barely sees freezing weather, I think we have 1 or 2 days total where the temperature nears 32 overnight in Phoenix, though I can vouch for being parked outside in 118 degree weather. :eek:

    That said, what is separating? Is the tape sticking to the body and not the flare, or the flare and not the body? Or are you getting double separation?

    If you are having trouble with the tape adhering to the flare there is an adhesion promoter you can use that should make it even more rock solid.
    It's called
    $14 3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter, 3 Sponge Applicators
    3M 4298 and it comes on little sponges. This will make it semi-permanent to the point where you're probably gonna need a heat gun to get the tape back off.

    The only reason I personally can not advise its use on paint would be because I have no idea what its effects are long term. 99% not going to be any issue, I just cannot personally vouch for it because I have not used it.
