This - except don't change your oil blindly - get your oil analyzed. I've been using OEM Toyota filters and my oil analyses come back with good results. Maybe another filter would filter better but does that actually provide any real world benefit? Could a better filtering one have detrimental effects from worse flow rates? Also maybe. That test is great but it doesn't provide any real world context. Having your oil analyzed provides real world data on YOUR truck, YOUR engine, YOUR driving style, YOUR driving environment.

I've tried a few various filters over the years in different vehicles and have yet to see any difference in my oil analysis results. Albeit this was not at all a controlled study and 100% anecdotal.

Those tests are bollocks. Wix XP, Purolator Boss and Napa all use the same synthetic filter media and internal design. All three > OEM.

IDK.... I've seen several YouTube 'test' videos that rate the factory Toyota filters as one of the best.
I think it's always best to find out who is putting the $$ up to have the video made.

Been using Castrol Edge (both 10w-30 and 0w-20) on the last three Toyotas and actually have Blackstone results to back my opinion. OEM filters and 10k oil changes and the oil always comes out a nice dark caramel color. Blackstone says go another 2000 miles and check again. I say I’m good with 10k changes as it’s easy to remember between now two vehicles and why not follow the engineers recommendation? I spend a good amount of weeks south of the border every year and the dirt is my friend.
It’s taken over 15 years to come to this realization, but if it works why change?
    YMMV

Rankings without the data are worthless. What is the difference between #1 and #16, 10%, 1% or 0.001%? Post both as I don't want to search for and watch a video.

This. If you are changing your oil every 5,000 miles than any of those filters work well. The Toyota Filter always comes out highly rated in most of the filter tests.

Ya know... Back in the day.... Like the 50's-60's-70's-80's... (Yeah I'm that old.. LOL) There was nothing better than a FRAM filter.
Now?? .... I would only use one if it was my last choice.

Thank you to the OP for starting this thread and posting the video. I love this kind of data. I will say I have used Toyota OEM oil filters on all my Toyota vehicles for 40 year and never had an engine fail. My only Toyota that started to use some oil was a RAV4 that had 185K miles so I kind of expected that.

Don’t you find it peculiar that the Toyota filter is ranked #1 in capacity and dead last in filtration rating?
I suspect Toyota specs their filter media for the “long haul 10k OCI”.

Years ago I was talking to a rep from K&N and he said (more than once) that a dirty filter will usually filter better than a clean one.

Some owners might be picky about oil and filter specs and that's fine

The engines themselves are definitely not picky.

Show me some data proving a stock filter will shorten the life span of the engine. Outside of that I'm yawning..

Not at all, generally low filtration ratings increase capacity.
