Hello Tacoma world. This is for the Tacomas running 285/75/16 Or similar size. At what mileage did you replace brake pads for the first time???? I have a ‘19 Tacoma at 34k miles today. Still didn’t change pads. Been running 285s since August 2019.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Brake pad life has more to do with the type of service and the type of driver than the size of the tire.

A vehicle that has a 100 mile daily highway commute will typically get many more miles on the brakes than a city taxi for example.

My truck has around 55,000 miles and the brakes are still the originals.
Although most of my driving is local, I tow a trailer regularly and live on a 3 mile hill - I'm easy on brakes, they last me a long time.

    I'm old...

Like the last poster stated… maybe tell us what you do and how much/far you drive?

Towing for instance could have a massive impact.

Too many variables, you’re going to get answers that range by tens of thousands of miles.

60-70k miles with OEM pads are pretty normal for me from different generation 4Runner's and Tacoma's.

I just had the dealer replace my front brake pads only last Saturday. My truck has 112,250 miles on original pads. I have a 2016 Tacoma. This is a mix of both city and hwy miles. I do tow a quad trailer a little as well. I requested the dealer install factory pads since they did so well for me. Cost was 299.99 plus tax. I noticed my truck starting to occasionally squeal when breaking so I took it in. Timing was good.
