If you use the 3 prong switch, the fogs will still work, the problem is that the light won't. Most of the diagrams for your switch are set up for sourcing power to the relay, not sinking it. The issue is that if you source power, you have two resistances in parallel- the relay coil and the light bulb filament. This means that some of your 12 volts goes across each resistance- light turns on and coil and relay activates. If you sink power- you have 12 volts coming from the relay coil and the light is in parallel with the switch contacts (Approx 0 Ohms). In this case all of your power will go through the switch contacts and none will go to the bulb. The stock Toyota switch avoids this problem, since the illumination is independent of the switch contacts.

Looks like I may be mixing and matching:(
One stock OEM 2nd Gen on the pre wired fogs and the older rocker switch on the Hellas.

I have done a bit of searching but do you know off hand if it will be easier to get an additional stock OEM 2nd Gen switch to work with Hellas?

I have two of the rocker OEM switches on their way so if someone is interested I can probably hook them up for a good price.

I'm wanting to put fogs in my 07 base model, I want to just stick to the OEM too, where is a good place to buy everything? I don't think there is anything pre-wired in my truck at all tho, correct?

OEM switch is plug and play for your present wiring. The light is on all the time and dimmed by the dash light dimmer. I saw a mod where a guy added an LED to the OEM switch, so it would change color when the fogs were on. About your Hellas- you will have to run the wiring to the fuse box and add another relay. The stock switch will work, since all the current goes through the relay, not the switch. You only want enough current to power the relay going through the switch. In this case, the problem is going to be finding the stock plug to go into the back of the fog light switch. I am trying to do something similar to add heated mirrors.

Was that the wire coming out of your Dash for the switch for your fog lights? I have the same set up and I'm wondering if that's the wires for my Fog Light switch. My '08 Tacoma I guess is prewired. It has the wires for the lights behind the front bumper and that one set of 4 wires behind the Dash where the Fog Light Switch would go. Did it work out for you? Thanks

Thanks for all the information in this thread, I now have completed my first real mod, fog lights. Got the lights and switch from ebay and the relay from lordco. Work great, nice to have more light. Thanks everyone, I am not what you would call mechanically inclined, but it was straight forward based on this thread.

Is the white wire that's tied on the grill above the bumper the prewiring for fog lights?

cameron172 and norcaltaco33 that isn't the wire there. Lie under the front of your truck and look straight up between engine and bumper towards the truck not against the bumper. If it's pre wired you should see the wires for the fog lights tied off above and in line with where they mount on bumper, they have a plug already attached ready to plug into the back of the light bulb. the wires are running in a black plastic cover as well. hope that helps.

It does! Thanks. Does anyone know what those random white wires are for?

I am doing the exact same thing for my '05 Tacoma, my truck is pre-wired as well.
I did buy a factory switch from my local dealer for $42
Do you need to buy a fog relay/fuse that gets plug into the fuse box inside engine compartment?
What exact fuse/relay is it? part number?

Hello, I'm trying to do a HID conversion on my fog lights. I have a 2009 model Tacoma and can't seem to find anywhere on YouTube or on Tacoma world regarding the proper way to remove the fog light from the bumper. I can't seem to get it myself and struggling to find some good Intel. If someone could post a picture or video showing this it would mean a lot. Thanks
