Do you have any pics of the finished install with the skid plate on? I'd like to see it. I'm very interested in doing this myself!

I failed on pics the other day during install due to having a full plate of chores that day. I will take a pic when it is not rainy out and post back in thread.

    Great thank you!
Would you happen to know the part # for the tank protector?
Was there any modifications you had to do, or was it just purely a bolt on install with the new straps?
    Thanks!

Not sure of the skid part number, just grabbed it up from a for sale thread. Tanks and straps are same for all 6 lug trucks if not all tacomas. No mods whatsoever....except taking the rubber strips off the oem straps and putting them on the new straps. The strips end up between the tank and straps. Hardest thing for me was fishing up 4 nuts and suitable washers from my magic bucket of hardware to bolt skid to straps without having to go to store and buy more. The spectra straps fit just like oem only they are stainless instead of regular rustable painted steel.

    Great.
Thanks for the info! I believe I'll try this out. I think I found the part # and it's not cheap from Toyota
Looks like for the straps, guard and bolts OEM would run around $300-$350
Might wait and see if I can find it used somewhere. The guard alone looks to be $200!

There are several aftermarket skids for the fuel tank as well. I got one from RCI Metalworks. Just waiting on my fuel tank straps to show up.

There is another brand that makes a skid that attaches to part of the frame (front of skid).

Generally the aftermarket ones are more expensive but also more robust.

Well, mine is prerunner so we all know that does not = any serious offroad crawlin stuff so I just wanted more protection than nothing....and it barely is, lol but I also like adding oem features that didn't come on reg cabs. Can you say v6 6 spd in a reg cab daydreams? I can because I'm an auction away from having a donor vehicle of just the right type circumstance to pick up that'll have everything I need...except maybe a 1 piece driveshft.......................but I digress, this is about pics of the oem tank skid added so here's a few from the parking garage at lunch....................

    from front looking back...

    bottom looking back.......

from wheel well side - note stainless strap & proximity to the 2012 4 leaf pack - still plenty of clearance.....

    Thanks for the pics!
I understand, I have a pre runner also.
I enjoy adding all the OEM parts I can also
The V6 six speed in the regular cab sounds pretty sweet!
