OEM Gas Tank Skid Plate?

    No it's plastic and you have to get new gas tank straps that have studs at the bottom . RCI makes a nice metal one and they also sell the straps

    I have the RCI aluminum on mine. I forget the price difference between the OEM and RCI , but after thought the OEM would be almost as good, possibly fit better.

    And yes it's normal for it not to have one, they're standard on OR trim, not sure about Limited.
    My thought on the plastic shield being on par with anything else stems from the fact that they're hanging off of little studs attached to the tank straps. A true skid IMO should be a shield integrated into the frame and or cross member or both.
