Today I went to local dealer, he was able to take $100 off of each one, but he couldn't find the improved ones in his system, he says probably the original parts are being built without the issue. On the other side, my 2010 Tacoma doesn't have DRL, so why should I be concerned the housing will melt?

Good for you. Sorry I took so long to get back to you.
That's great you don't have the issue with the DRL. Glad you got a good deal.

I have the melting ( I think) see the pic. But I'm sure I don't have DRL.

Yes that's it but it's not too bad. When you start truck and put in 1st. or drive do your turnsignal lights come on? It's hard to tell do you have a bulb in there?

On the right side it looks like the glass in front of bulb is broken. I'm really undecided to buy the original one from local dealer or the improved one from those sites others mentioned

I don't think the new improved ones are available any longer. Back on the ultimate headlight thread we had talked about how the new number is superceded back to the original number. Just pay attention to the housings when you get them as you don't want to be mismatched. And in the future you want to do the DRL delete then you can look into it and some one will help you with it.
It looks like you might drive with your headlights on for safety because the turnsignal area isn't to burnt and cracked too bad.

I bite the bullet and bought the OEM parts for $457.
The service guy quoted me $500 to replace them for me.
Let's see how I can save another $500!!

Now that I have OEM headlights, do I need to change the bulbs? if so, can I put LED in there? I read I might be labeled as A-Hole on the road, is that true?
What's the right type of bulb for my 2010 Tacoma? the technician looked into the housing and told me to buy "H4", but he said I can upgrade to LED.

Don't put LED head lamps in there. The stock reflector is specifically designed for halogen bulbs (and is actually better than most of the aftermarket). Just get a set of good H4 (9003) halogens.

LED "bulbs" are not actually much of an upgrade. Why? Read this:

Why LEDs should not be run in Halogen reflectors | Tacoma World

If you really want better lighting, read this:

OEM smoked... (came on the 09-2011 Sport but will fit the 2005-2011 Sport and Offroad. Got them online from Boch Toyota South... OEM part# 81150-04173 / 81110-14173. Tried numerous sites to get the tsb versions... all out of stock/ quit making. These are non tsb... the dtrl lens are clear compared to the old faded yellow. Wondering if after the tsb ended they updated the old part numbers with new non melting lens? Time will tell.

Get the good deal from you dealer. That way you can ask questions
Do not (upgrade) to LED their not very good for the housings the H4 is the correct bulbs. As the https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/
explains on the first post about the Halogen bulbs degrade over time but gives you options for a better light output. From what I've seen in your post's is that you probably would be fine with any grade OEM style bulb.

I posted my issue in the ultimate headlight thread as I recently did that upgrade with new oem smoked headlights. I didn’t realize it at first but my driver side lamp appears to be a non tsb older version while the passenger side lamp is the updated tsb type. Here is my invoice showing the parts I ordered. I’m not really sure what do

That post is from 2015, don't you think since then there are better H4 bulbs in the market? his recommendation was 100/90w Osram Super Brights.

had the same issue with my first order... ordered (and as advertised) the tsb versions... recieved one of each. Ended up sending back and got the non tsb's from another online dealership. :annoyed:
