OEM LED Headlight Conversion Harness

I don’t, sorry.

 

Can someone help me out here; I have a 21 Off Road 4x2 with Halogen headlamps and want to get the factory OEM LED headlamps without the TRD PRO writing. Do I need a harness to do so? I’m getting conflicting feedback from a facebook group.

I want to do these upgrades so if I need a harness can someone point out what I need?

21 TRD OF 4x2 with halogen headlamps:

1. Add OEM LED headlamps
2. Replace grille with aftermarket with raptor lights
3. Add light bar below grille

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A bumper grille light bar can be ordered with it's own harness.

The 2021's should be fully compatible with 2016+ as far as halogen headlights upgrading to LED.

I do offer a harness option for a grille light feed.

For light bar harnesses, I've done a couple and they take a looooooooooong time for me to finish b/c of all the other things which get in the way. I try to prioritize my "on menu" stuff and that's where the custom work really starts to lag. I have a few guys who are pretty happy (@Zumozuzu7 and @ljh824 ) and I may have agreed to do one or two more, but that chatter is probably best in my custom harness thread rather than this headlight harness thread.

One thing worth noting though, anyone who purchases either the grille light or meso v5 switchback option with their conversion harness can have extra stuff added to that output later on, such as a drl backlight for a light bar.

The thing with a light bar is you need to have relays, while grille lights are fine off the existing circuits b/c they are such low current draw.

This is the grille and raptor lights I plan to add along with the OEM LED headlamps. For this setup what harness do I need? Do you have a part number I need to ask for? Or, what verbiage do I need to say? I want to order the harness so that I have it for when I get the grille and headlamps. There’s about 4 weeks lead time for them. The last pic, is that the harness needed?

Hi all,
I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport that I added the 2020 OEM LED headlights to with Dave Easa’s plug n’ play wiring harness. Everything works perfectly. I’ve now decided I want to add smoked white Raptor grille lights to my aftermarket TRD Pro grill. Running for Tacos has a plug n play harness but in their installation video they mentioned it will not work with the 2020 OEM LEDs. I’m looking to just replace the drivers side headlight harness and plug n’ play a new one to the grille lights because I want them to come on with the DRLs and not just with the headlights. Any recommendations as to which smoked white led grille lights I should go with and whose harness I should use to achieve this?

My response:

"it will not work with the 2020 OEM LEDs" -- this is somewhat misleading or perhaps insufficiently explained. If the truck came with LED headlights from the factory, the r4t harness is not an option. If the truck came with halogen headlights from the factory, the harness will work perfectly. It's a matter of what the truck was built with from the factory, not the current headlights on the truck.

"Any recommendations as to which smoked white led grille lights I should go with" -- I buy $20 ones from eBay because I don't feel that grille LED's have much tech involved. Mine are working great.

The DRL tap is really the only interesting part. For anyone with a truck that came with halogen headlights from the factory, the r4t option is legit, or my conversion harness with grille lights, or if someone is dead set on me building them something like r4t I will do so on a case by case basis. I prefer people take advantage of the products offered by other vendors and I prefer to not intrude on the space they have already carved out.

 

I got the harness today; thank you and can’t wait to get the headlights.

@daveeasa Question, it’s gonna be a while before I get the headlights, do you test each harness before sending out? I ask because probably by the time I get headlights I’m guessing I’ll be past your warranty timeline. With that, I recently purchased the MESO Stage 1 taillight harness kit and one of them doesn’t work and now I’m kinda wondering about any type harness I purchase in the future or at least not purchase before being ready to use it.

 

Yes I test. No warranty. I will help anyone with reasonable questions. But I would just buy when you are ready. I have good stock pre made and no plans to stop.

Will do, thank you. Man, I was so excited to see the first taillight done and compare the difference only to have it bust my bubble when the second one didn’t work, at the the tail and brake light part. I tested everything to determine its the actual harness that doesn’t work.
