OEM LED Headlight Conversion Harness

For Hella 500 driving lights you want to hit me up in the custom harness thread (linked in my signature). You'll likely need relays and some sort of trigger (high beam T tap or pushbutton in the cab).

 

@Speaks05 this is the person you want to chat with about making your lights do what you want them to do.

 

This thread is specifically for people wishing to install OEM LED headlights in a truck equipped with halogen headlights from the factory who also want a DRL T harness for grille lights. Or, if people really want sans grille light and no rapture preparedness, I do that too but want to make clear that you have other options of good quality as mentioned in the first post and the DIY thread.

So, for anyone listening, I got @Puppypunter ’s care package to help with the surge. I’m oversold by 10 - the six pack from Johnny so I need to make 5 of these quickly. Hoping to get them out the door by Saturday but worst case Monday or Tuesday. Should be able to get the first six out tomorrow.

 

Hello @daveeasa I was wondering if I could place an order for a non raptor lights harness. I really want to get an order in before either you retire from making these or this thread blows up with orders.

The non-raptor option is possible from the order form linked in the first post so order away my friend. I'm currently oversold by 3 but only 1 of those 3 have paid yet. Planning to prep a batch of 5-10 tonight so I can streamline assembly once the next batch of connectors arrive.

Connectors arrived this afternoon. I commence construction tonight. There is a reasonable chance I ship the 3 paid orders tomorrow. If not, Monday seems guaranteed. Unless maybe I cut two or more fingers off.

 

Ok, so some minor hiccups actually.

1. I mis-ordered the plugs and the ones I have are one size to small. Kind of like the Grinch’s heart. I immediately ordered the right size but it could be a few days on that.
   
2. I’ve run out of H9 male connectors. I ordered more of those a week or two ago but they aren’t in yet. These are rather annoying to source as they all come from China. However, I think the next batch will be a little better quality.
3. I’m just about out of sidemarker caps. Those have been ordered as well. Same story as 2.

Fortunately, I can do a payday loan for all 3 from @Puppypunter for the short term to get the paid orders out the door.

It is funny how hard supply chain management is with low batch stuff. I checked my inventory on a few other things and I may pre-emptively re-order some other small parts as well.

This is what 600 MX-150 terminals look like once cut off a reel (cutting from a reel by hand is one of those tedious tasks which just has to get done somehow.)


And here are the 3 pairs of no grille light harnesses taking shape. One pair is boxed up and the other 2 waiting on phone-a-friend connector payday loan delivery.

 

Getting parts for this stuff is 75% of the work anymore! I guess there are just many parts that no one entity carries everything, and if they did, half of it would be on back order anyway!
But I am dropping off a care package today, so hopefully you’ll be back on track soon.

Already sold: 5 w/o rapture preparation and one with (top right bag with specia r4t harness for complete plug and play)

I’m waiting on h9 terminals and connectors as well as sidemarkers.

I’m also waiting on fender flare clips but I’m not going to let that hold anything up. I consider those orange / blue clips as a garnish. Besides, nobody breaks those clips anyway, right? Certainly not me (spoiler, I haven’t replaced my own yet).

So, once this batch is complete I’ll have one rapture and two without in stock.

So I guess I immediately start a new batch. But I am also getting a bit low on the DIR inventory as well so…

Oh yeah, I also picked up a test light and rigged an extension harness so I can keep it up high and out of my way. I do still need to put some time into the switch bank though as that part isn’t ready yet.

 

It was a good week for the babysitter to be too busy to cover for date night. I crimp and then when I’m done I crimp more.

For anyone following along, I need two parts to finish, plugs and H9 male connectors.

Plugs are scheduled to arrive today.

H9’s I just don’t have good visibility into so I did a quick Amazon but this morning as a backup.

shipping remains a challenge these days.

 

quick question, so I got rapture ready harness would these work fine if I was to just install the headlights first and install the grille lights at later date?

 

Yes, I include a waterproof cap for the grille feed specifically for that situation.

 

Just wanted to say thanks for the harness @daveeasa and that anyone on the fence should look no further.

 

I did receive the plugs I need today. The order was for 1000 so I should be good for the next 100 of these.

All I need are H9 males and I can ship out. I have two orders in for those so it’s just a waiting game now.

 

One outbound tomorrow and 7 on deck. It appears that 3 of you are preparing for the rapture and 4 are risking everything by skipping the grille lights.

I am stuck waiting on male H9 connectors before these can ship out but as soon as I receive, I will send.



Interestingly enough, this batch blows through my stock of DRL connectors so I just reordered some more of those.
