I bought some Toyota OEM mudguards but have not put them on yet. They are made of hard plastic not rubber. Can you folks that have them tell me if you have had any problems with them as in if you bottom out bending the wheel well lip? Are they flexable enough not to bend the metal they are screwed to?
    thanks for your input.

I predict you will receive answers stating they’re just fine and have been great and answers stating they suck and you’ll shoot your eye out rip your fender off.

I have the weathertech versions on my truck and they’re fine. I don’t’ rock crawl, but do get off pavement.

I’d say if you think you’ll need real sliders, then skip the OEM and go find aftermarket floppy flaps. If you’re mostly road (pavement/dirt) and not taking it off any sweet jumps I expect you'll be fine with rigid OEM or Weathertech flaps.

Ton of threads on this topic if you search with combos such as Mud Flaps, mudflaps, mud guards, mudguards etc. Plasticolor are cheap and floppy style aftermarket option. Search Plasticolor and you'll find some pictures and feedback on them as well as install which is a breeze with use of stock components and no drilling on your truck required. I have plasticolor and they're great and the best price for functionality that I have found. They also tear cleanly if you do "pinch" while offroading. If you don't plan to off road, the more expensive stiff style "Guards" from Weathertech or Toyota stock will work fine. If you want more expensive floppy style flaps that stick out (good for oversized tires) look at RokBlokz--again I just don't care for them as they stick out too far for me and they are expensive.

I had to remove mine once I got large wheels, or they would rub.

I also removed the smaller ones on the front fenders. They did rub when I parked. Sounded like I was going up a roller coaster when I was parking.

Also, start as many threads as you want! Nobody says you can't, they just get annoyed when you do. Brush that shit off and start another thread!

The OEM's are very stiff.... I popped the screws off on my 2006 while backing out of the driveway through a 3' snow bank.... No forgiveness to them....I would NOT off road with them...I'd get soft ones...

The OEMs are quite rigid, not sure why they don't make them a little more flexible.
