Added the OEM Onboard Tire Inflator (PT949-35240) to my '24 TRD Pro today. The install is fairly straight forward. The hardest part is cutting the bed. My taco has the spray-on bedliner so it was extra dusty when I cut it. Here is a high level install description.

The part number above is for the full kit. It comes with everything you need to install plus an air hose in a storage bag.

The next thing I did was make a template of the air compressor cover so I can position it on the bed and then use it a as guide for cutting. You can remove the cover from the pump assembly by removing 4 phillips screws and then trace your cutting template. The dimensions and holes are identical to the storage cubby on the other side if that helps.

Before cutting I drilled the pilot holes. In addition to the 6 mounting screws you also need two holes for some guide post on the cover. I cut the hole using an oscillating saw but you can use whatever saw you have.

Then I installed some M6 rivet nut threaded inserts (see YouTube for how to videos).

Next unscrew the power port using a Torx 30 and unplug the connector.

Install the blue air tube on the quick release on the pump and then the pump assembly on the bed.

Connect the connector your removed from the power assembly to the air gauge assembly. Connect the black power cable from the pump to the air gauge assembly. Finally connect the blue air tube to the air gauge assembly and perform a smoke test.

That's pretty much it other than screwing everything down. Note that in order to use the compressor the truck must be running. I hope this helps someone out.

I'll post a reminder for anyone considering this or any OEM part. Always check other dealers for discounts!

As an example my local dealer had no discount on this. I always check Fred Anderson parts as they offer constantly high discounts. This stacks with site wide holiday deals and you can usually get free shipping on small items.

Does the kit come with all hardware? Or would we need to buy the hardware else where?

It comes with all hardware except for the rivet inserts. I bought those on Amazon.

Do you have to have some kind of power switch along with having the truck on or is there always power going to it while the truck is running?

There is a power on/off switch on the air compressor controller. It's right on top of the display. It's normally off. You have to press the power button to turn it on.

Nice! Great mod and write up. I was looking at adding a single ARB compressor under the hood but this would be cleaner.

Fred Anderson really does have great pricing.

Still a little pricey for onboard air, but I like the clean/easy install and OEM look.

Stupid question I'm sure but how long is the air hose? Thinking of the installed located at the drivers rear and the farthest tire that would need inflating being located at the passenger front, will the hose reach with ease or do you need to have some kind of extension?

I'll let the OP answer your question on hose length, but I plan to add something like this:

You can use its published specs to compare with an ARB:

But the real strength of the Toyota compressor is in the software. Plenty of presets where the compressor will autostop. Manual mode where you can use it to blow (lightly) off dust. You can use a Morrflate 4 tire hose to go around the vehicle without interruption to air up.

The included single coiled air hose is plenty long to reach all tires from the rear corner of the bed.

Ah thanks, looks like a slower flow rate on OEM. Does the paperwork show any IP rating?

No listing. But, it is kept under shelter. Cover flap has a stay open position which is easily overcome to close it.

Tyler at Independence Overland reported a part defect shortly after delivery with supply shortage. Don't know his current status with it. I used it extensively during my last trip. Still working. Just push buttons a couple of times, hook up the hoses, and tend to other things. Love it.

Nice install and explanation! I’m assuming the digital readout, 12v outlet, usb outlet panel is part of the compressor kit? Is the 12v receptacle always powered?
